anyone done a comparison between lays $88 DSSD and Trevors $98 DSSD, I really want to join this dssd club but can't make my mind up about which one to get. Seems a lot of lays dssd's don't have the pearl centered whereas in trevors pictures it looks centred, anyone have any input on this

I think Lay's USD88 and Trevor 's USD98 DSSD are from the same supplier. Not much different.

If you want to make a different. Get the high end version with running the A2836 or swiss movt. That is where Trevor has an edge other other competitor. His DSSD got the correct case shape and bezel pearl base is more close to gen. But it will not come cheap at above USD200.

Sweeeeet! Just got my $88 Lay as well... gotta admit, for the money there is no way you can beat that deal anywhere. Love the Ceramic bezel as well.

Did the shower test this morning (out of the box). Passed with flying colors. Will do the water submersion challenge here later. All DSSD Club owner are welcome to join me as well.

Hey Guys,
Finally I am a member of the Rolex DSSD too. Just got a Trevor DSSD running on A2836. I will say, buying A2836 is the correct choice cos the second hand is running much much smoother than A21J.

When you place a 21600beat watch beside a 28800beat watch side by side. You can really see the significant different. Its my first 28800 beat watch(Not include my gen Valjoux 7750 watch). So you can spot the longer second hand running very smoothly. But I feel the rep weight is abit too light given DSSD size but its a rep, so not much complaint. Haha.. Another thing to add. DSSD is not as big and thick as many complaint. In fact, it will fit many guys wrist easily not matter you are big size or skinny boy.. The Corum 48mm Admiral's Cup will be one huge watch at 48mm.. That is real big.

DSSD will be one of my daily watch

Have any of you DSSD owners thought about...or modded the HEV to make the watch water resistant??

Two things: yes, sealing the HEV has been done for a long time. Does it need to be? Who knows- I haven't heard of anyone complain that their HEV leaked.

Regarding wearing watches in showers-

Generally try to avoid wearing your watch in shower / baths as the hot water can get into your watch due to the high temperature of the water and / or steam.

You may have worn your watch in the shower without any problems before but the heat of the water can expand the metal case and degrade in the inner seals thus reducing the water resistance causing problems in the future.

Why take the risk of getting water into the watch and having the inconvenience to get the watch repaired when you can take the watch off?

Soap scum and dirt gettin' all gooked up in them bracelet links, a nice ring of yuck left under the watch..........

I don't, so you shouldn't. :p

As far as I know, the DSSD Bk sells starts off the same as Lay's, BK then thoroughly QC's the watch, verifies the movement, and performs the mods listed in his sales thread.

If that extra stuff is important to you, get one, you won't be disappointed. Otherwise I'd get one with an asian clone movement.

http://hontwatch.com/productdetails_593.html

or this one:

http://www.times-shop.net/product.php?id_product=7931

should be the same as the watch lay is offering(except the clone movement...sweep is the same though)... I'm sure you can get one from lay too if you ask him, it's just not listed on his page last I looked...

I asked myself the same question for over a month, and I came to the conclusion that it would be worth it to ensure proper working condition since bk checks the watch and movement. I figured I would probably spend as much, or the hassle of getting a local watchmaker to service it for me was worth the extra money. So I placed a deposit with bk a couple of days ago.

Note: I plan on keeping it for at least a couple of years if not more, this after trying the gen on and deciding that my 6.75" wrist can pull it off and knowing that I probably will never dive deep enough.

DSSD question

Hey guys I havent been on the board for awhile but got the itch to get back into it.

The DSSD came to mind as a great rep but a lot has changed for the better it seems.

Any comments on this watch would be greatly appreciated
