Hello, what is the difference between the noobmariner and the beginmariner? Which one is better quality, and is there a dealer you guys reccomend to buy it from? I have been looking at the two, and the only difference i notice is the movements 21j vs. asian eta. Is the asian eta the better of the two? Thanks in advance.

I believe they are both terms for the same thing. IE the entry level Sub. Usually an A21J movement, and usually can be found for around $100 or so, and usually full of tells. I think from reading the tutorials that the Noobmariner is the Sub from the Noob factory, whatever that means.

Asian ETA 2813 is, i believe, a clone of the swiss eta movement. Better than A21j, but not as good asa the real deal. Most dealers who claim genuine swiss etas most problably have asian eta clones in them. This is also based on what I've read. Don't take it for gospel.

Eitherway, it's very difficult to get real Swiss movements in any reps nowadays as factories or dealers lie and sell clone movements as Swiss. Asian movements are just fine, so might as well just pay cheapest price and get the Asian advertised movements. You CAN get genuine Swiss ETA movements from Ofrie's and transplant them into some models, but I say it's overkill. Overmodding can cost a lot of money and break you well over a grand. For that, I'd rather buy a gen used Omega.

90% of ppl know rolex is supposed to have a sweeping second hand.. even ppl who have never seen a rolex know this.
an a21j doesn't sweep... but its cheap... so your call.
The other is more expensive, most likely a clone if bought from a dealer *(not a member who has an older watch)*
doesn't really matter the clones are perfectly fine quality anyways - you wont have any trouble.
Will beat at 8 beats just like a gen rolex.

most of us all start with $120 noob sub - then realize quickly it can't be worn in public until you mod it.
New insert, new pearl, recess the insert, biger crown, shaved crownguards, and then (if its a21j hope no one sees it ticking instead of sweeping)
(with both movements you'll have to mod the watch unless you buy a bkmariner, or a members watch thats been modded)

I found out after a lot of $$$ later that rep is a rep no matter what, and a gen is a gen no matter what. At the end of the day, nothing actually beats a $20 Casio quartz. The rest is about appreciating the art and craftsmanship. Since that's the case, I no longer care as much about my rep having a so called "Swiss" movement or not, especially since a $15 DG2813 (or DG4813 if luckier) works perfectly fine.

once upon a time i had the LV noobmariner till our cleaning lady got sticky fingers and lifted it from my dresser ... i hope she tried to pawn it and was told "it's a fake" ... needless to say she does't clean our house any longer and she's busted for theft also!! :lol: :lol: :lol: good for the friggin bitch!

Did we not agree just a cpl of weeks ago that the noob (a propper noob) and the begin are NOT the same watch? I am refering to the gen noobfactory noob not just some watch called a noob by some lieing dealer. Admitedly most refered to as noobs are not but the ones sold by folk such as Chris or BK most certainly are. I think D4M can source the real thing as well. There is a much difference between a real noob and your average cheap sub as there is between a FakeyMarriner and the crappy ones.
"Begin" appears to be a generic term for any old cheapo sub whereas "noob" in it's propper context refers to the product of the noobfactory which is a superiour product IMO. It's still the best 1610 bracelet around and possibily the best dial as well as one of the best cases apart from a WM9. Even the MBK has more case issues. The problem is geting the real thing. That comes down to a dealer you can trust.
