I'm not a big fan of replicas, but i really want one of these. But i still have big doubts about the movements after hearing all the horror stories of movements being refurbished/repaired ETA movements instead of actually new ones, dirty asian clones or completely without any lubrication. I mean, i don't want to pay 300+ bucks for a watch that will eat its own cogs after few months or just got stuck for some stupid reason. I have a 3-4 years old Seiko 5 which was never ever serviced yet and it's ticking like a champ with great precision. Sure it doesn't look like Omega and is a lot more basic but it's movement is just superb. Basic but what it does, does with excellence. After all, Seiko is standing behind it. But here, no one really knows who makes the movements, who keeps the quality control up to any standards etc.

Anyone has any long term experiences with Asian 2824-2 movements? Are they reliable?

Dude you can go on EBAY and get a Gen Swiss movement from Europe and swap it out when it breaks. Maybe it runs well for a few years and you will not need to change the movement. I personally have never had a movement issue on an Asian or ETA movement (knock on wood). Only movement that every crapped the bed on me was a Gen Omega and a Gen Breitling. Go figure it is mechanical and Sh#t happens.

My v5 planet ocean (asian 2836 movement) bought dec 2012 is still working superb. Its actually -+ 2sec a day, tested on my beat counter.
As long as the hands are not getting stuck in the future, the watch will work for many years I guess..

Thx for the feedback on the movements (maybe i'll use the Asian one to learn cleaning and re-oiling the movements myself).

What about a clasp pin? I remember catching some complaints where some pin in the clasp? was rather easy to break on the Noob version, but not on the v5. But i don't remember where i've seen that and what it was really talking about (what pin exactly and how it supposedly broke off).
I had a bad experience with a gen bracelet on a Sea-Gull that was really shoddy and i don't want it to be happening again on something that otherwise looks really solid (the bracelet on this PO really looks properly finished and all, at least on the pics)...

I had a PO v5 with A2824 that was dead on arrival. The TD made it right though, so it's a risk you can take.

So you got a new working one? That would suck shelling out 350 bucks for a nice looking paperweight with Omega logo...

Mate, the dealers on all the fora are pretty good about taking care of broken or DOA watches. It sucks, but it can happen. People today are getting so wound up about spending 200-300 on a replica. Frankly speaking, these reps have come a long way from the Fossil quality of yesterday.

Yes, I wouldn't worry too much about the movement. Asian clones are quite reliable and are getting better all the time. It's become almost impossible to get a new Gen ETA now in a $300 rep. The good news is - you can usually fix any problem with a broken movement, or just buy a new one.

Totally agree!! (Back on soap box) You cannot get a boutique diver (Boschett, Ocean 7, Debaufre, Steinhart, Armida, ETC.....) anywhere near this price point, and they usually have Miyota movements. The Rep.s now are far superior is quality and detail. I have owned all of them and more so I can confirm for this!

We complain paying about paying 300 bucks for a 7K watch that is 9/10 in accuracy. LUDACRIS!!!
(Off soap box).
What were we talking about?

42x14mm. The 16mm was a misprint/measured with a measuring tape...so it is off/not accurate.

This thread is almost 3 years old. There was a new release of the LMPO late last year. There is a lot of info on here about it.

Do you know anyone who stills sells the old one with the Hippocampus on the back?
