Dear members,

some days ago (or better said nearly two weeks ago ;) ) my Noob Daytona 116500 White Dial with 4130 fully working chrono movement arrived.
I did some comparison pictures with my ARF Daytona 116520 White Dial below. (please note - 116520 White Dial / Stainless Steel bezel = ARF || 116500 White Dial / Ceramic bezel = Noob)

To be very honest, both watches are very nice and well made

Excellent pictorial comparison bro. Thanks for this!

Nur-Uhr couldn't agree more

Only thing I will add is the curvature of the lugs on the ARF is much closer to gen than the noob

I got my QC last night, pretty happy with the SEL, bezel has what is hopefully just some dirt in the engraving, have asked them to clean and send another pick so I can approve. 120 possibly isn’t aligned

Will do but it will take some time because the watch is still in China. Dial arrived yesterday. I can measure the gen dial and ARF dial, no problem.

The plan is to cut the feet and reattach new feeds. Just put new feet in the feerholes on the movement, adjust the dial and glue the feet to the dial. That is the plan, now let us see what happens but I am very confident. Did the same with a gen dial on a ARF 7750 a year ago.

I am doing this only on the 116500 watches, all my 116520 have gen dials.

guru am subscribed cuz can't wait to see how your project goes.

It has been said many times in several threads that the prudent way or most cost-efficient way to franken the Noob 116520 white dial is to use ARF's bezel and dial. I have been very quiet, but maybe I will share what one well-respected modder has told me: the ARF dial is bigger than the Noob's dial, thus, it has to be shaved a bit to fit the Noob case.

Obviously, ARF feet needs clipping, and mounted to the Noob using dial dots (stickers). Re-soldered feet like you plan is even better. So, I anticipate that when you measure the ARF dial versus the gen dial, you will find out that the ARF dial is a little bigger than gen. But yes, it can be mounted to the Noob with a little shaving.

Conversely, putting the Noob dial into the ARF would be a challenge if not impossible because the Noob dial is smaller than the ARF's dial.
Looking forward to your project. By the way, I sent you a PM. Wishing you the best!

thinwhiteduke I measured both dials, noob is 28.6 mm, gen dial is 28.5 mm and ARF dial is 29.6 mm. Thera are 2 possibilities, shave down the ARF by one mm or modd the case. Both modds need a lathe. So it is not a 1:1 swapp. I am waiting for QC of 2 116500 in black. I was told black is easier to get so I changed my order. In the meantime I have a ARF 116520 incoming for parts.
Will update you guys when we change dials.. I hope it works out.
No need to change dials if you do not have a modder with the right tools.

Thanks for the dial measurement confirmation, guru! I am glad we put that information on the table: ARF dial installed in the gen-spec Noob is NOT a simple drop in since ARF is larger than the Noob dial by 1mm. So, our reputable modder from NY is correct (I never doubted him). So members planning a DIY be forewarned.

Hi my friend,

I’ve just sent the watch to the modder and i can’t wait to see the final result :) i’m pretty sure that this BP dial and in general all 7750 dial will fit beacuse i remember that some people in the past have installed a gen dial on them.

Probably my modder will shave dial feet and then apply glue to fit the dial. Not new feet unfortunally, but the result would be the same :)

BP dial for the price it’s stunning. If you have in mind a project with 116500 watches the ARF dial it’s the best choice :)

Here some update: dial 7750 as previous said fit perfectly the gen and SA4130 movement BUT there is a bad news. 7750 dials are too large compared with the noob and gen dial and need to be shaved on the edge. My modder try this, but there is a risk to ruine the dial. Will see , i hope all will be good at the end

Hahaha, misiekped and I tried fitting an ARF dial into a gen spec case back in May, sadly found this same thing. I haven't had a chance to shave the dial yet though.

My modder had shaved the dial but this is not enough to fit the dial into the case. He tells me that there is an inner lip that prevents the dial 7750 from entering and tells me that this lip should be removed with the lathe. So guys I'm sorry but the 7750 dials do not seem to fit on daytona Noob sa4130 case unless the casing is modded. Actually i can’t find someone that can do this at honest price unfortunally.

I tried shaving a junk dial I had just as a proof of concept. I am happy with the results and have every expectation of shaving an ARF dial 1mm. I only took off .4mm, but it worked well and I need to improve the anchoring a bit so I stopped there.

I used a dremel and just sandwiched the dial between the rubber collar of the bit. When I do this again, I have in mind a much more secure and protective approach, using thick plastic over as much of the dial as possible and some rubber or teflon washers. I started with 320 grit sandpaper, then 220, then 150, stopping periodically to check progress. I saw no damage to the dial and the shave is clean.

Nice idea with the dremel, what about the casing issue as mentioned above?

Hi, when the dial is shaved to 28.6 mm it should fit without modding the case. Gen Rolex dial is 28.5 mm, noob is 28.6 and
gen dial is 28.5mm. 28.6 mm is the inner lip and it is holding the dial in position.I wrote this already in another thread. Here the the picture of the case showing the lip. I have 3 ARF dials now but waiting for the watches

Not an issue, see my pic. Why should it not fit when it is the same size?

great work. I will use a lathe but this looks good too. I will do a testrun too. I am afraid that the dial could brake. So good to know this option with Sandpaper.
Did you try to fit it in the case?
