Generally with diamond rings you want to pay 30% - 50% of the retail price. Expect 30% discount. Not sure if gold bands have the same mark up.

I had ours custom made. Didn't put any diamond since we planned to wear it everyday. Both of us hate bling bling.. but to be fair, my mom gave her the diamond ring she got from her grandma which had gigantic bling on top. :-D

Go check out independent jewellers at Parnell. They are a bit expensive but one of a kind. ;-)

There are several jewellers in Parnell that design their own rings. They do make custom products just for you bro. ;-)
