Hey guys,

I know that asking for QC review isn't always everyone's favorite and I've never turned down a QC rep in the past as it feels slightly rude - but this one's a gift for my dad and I want it to be as good as a rep can be.

What I'm mainly looking at is the lume application and the fit of the SEL. I don't want to lead anyone to a conclusion but there are two possible misapplications of lume. If any Ex II owners/enthusiasts could share their expertise I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!

Just send it to cwazy for a relume. You will thank me later. SEL looks good and honestly the lume is acceptable since it's a rep. Now the misspelling of superlative might be an issue.

Dial needs to be rotated 1mm anti-clockwise to match up with the engraving, which is a 2 minute job, other than that it looks good to me.

Is Superlative spelt incorrectly?

I'd be more worried about the 3187 if this is a gift, than anything on the outside...

Thanks everyone for the info - is the 3187 unreliable? I've done a bit of research on the movt but haven't come across any complaints.

I did see the ICHS but obviously my dad knows it's a rep and the stack is a major job imho.

If you've been reading up on it then you know more than me to be honest. I've always avoided the 3XXX series movements as I have read about them being unreliable (which may or may not be accurate based on if people post when they're happy with something, vs. when they've had a problem) and that they are largely unknown to watchmakers, so difficult to get spares for or repaired. Hopefully someone who knows more about this movement will be along to comment further.

I know the A2836 isn't available at the moment, if it was I'd say go for that for sure. The J12 Explorer II which is just starting to appear is almost certainly going to be the same as the Noob Explorer (as the factories have an 'arrangement') so it might be worth looking at their version with the clone ETA.

If your dad knows this is a rep and won't be too p1ssed if anything goes wrong which might take a while to fix, then you've got no worries

The crown guards and crown are poo can crown guards be shaved? And can the crown be replaced? And does this come in a 2836? Also....yeah superlative is spelled correctly I was playing naughty tricks.

The 3xxx is nothing but a 2xxx modified to look somewhat like the gen. The SA3135 is different, and often recommended to avoid. This watch is not sa3135.

yes, the 3187 is a fine movement, but I would never buy it again. It's not worth spending the 150dollars more than the asian clone 2836. the unfortunate thing is the 2836 is out of stock and who knows when it will be back in. but yes, the dial is not centered and needs to be turned which as stated is an easy fix.

electric, the crown guards are supposed to be like that and the crown is correct. so why would you want to change that to make it incorrect.

Is it true that 3187 is nothing more than a fancy decorated A2836-2..??

Yes, its an A2836-2 modified to try and look like Rolex movement, which it doesn't do very well, and nickel plated. I have never heard anything bad about its performance however.

Yes, it functions fine, but looks nothing like the gen 3187. Not at all. and it costs usually at least 100 bucks more than the 2836 and more. Not worth it at all
