nothing better than scotch and watches.

The picture was easier to take than to upload...

I really love the way the watch looks in this pic. So much that I had to view the EXIF to see what it was shot with (Rebel T2i). There's just something about the color, contrast, I don't know what, but I know what I like and this PAM looks awesome. :) Excellent.

thanks for the compliment guys. for a quick DIY...

this is a combination of 4 photos, also known as an HDR photo. this can be faked in photoshop but the results aren't that great. to make pictures like this you really need at least 3 - better 5 pictures of the exact same shot, taken at different exposures.

for this one - i set my tripod on the shot and then took 4 different pictures - one dark exposure, one kinda dark, one normal, and one bright exposure.

i combined these pictures (very simple in photoshop - go to file>automoate>merge to hdr pro) in photoshop - selected how i wanted to bring out the colors, and this is the end result.

the photo itself is unedited - I actually have too shallow a DOF in that you can't read the date (it's 4.8.2010).

for those really into cameras it was shot with, as correctly noticed a Canon T2i, in Raw, with a Sigma 17-70 2.8-4 lens.

Technically yes - bracketing.

Bearing in mind I'm not a professional, typically I've heard people use that term when they're taking multiple exposures to compensate for potential imbalances in light (i.e. their camera read the light settings wrong and overexposed the shot).

Whenever I've heard people taking multiple shots for more creative purposes they usually mention combining exposures - perhaps theres a more technical term but I wouldn't know it.

I'd also mention when you're bracketing photos to compensate for potential light problems the difference between your darkest and lightest exposure won't be as great as if you're doing it for creative or HDR purposes.

Only one from you guru - not doing any more?

(then again, if you picked your photo as the winner there might be a *slight* bit of suspicion...)
