OK

I had a photo of the movement in my Ultimate PO Lite and contrary to some members here, this guy posted the following comment:

<<<Not intending to threadcrap, but are you absolutely sure that your watch contains a 2893 derivative Asian movement?! I find this highly unlikely as 2893 is a very expensive GMT movement.

uPO lite is normally supplied with a DG8413 movement which has the same ligne and datewheel position as an ETA2824 but shares no compononents with any ETA movement. The movement you have pictured as a spare is a DG2813 which is a Miyota copy and, although similar to the 8413, will have the date in a slightly different position. >>

About this photo of my watch's movement:

Do you think is way off or is he right?

Do not know if its Miyota but its deff not ETA, might work in its place but probably does not share any parts.

I'd agree with it being a DG2813. If you look above the balance, you'll see the WO symbol used by PTS Resources. Of course they also make a few other movements which ofrei's carries, DG2812, etc, and it could be one of those, but it is definitely the Chinese copy of the Miyota 8215. I'm not sure about the DG8413 though, I haven't run across it. But then again, I don't have any UPO lites either.

It does kinda look like a Miyota, but all of mine have rotors that look different.Mine all say 21 jewel on the rotor.

Ok with my limited knowledge about movements I am willing to say that that is a DG2813 (that's why I think in the case of the asian Steelfish they say it is a copy of the ETA 2813 but it actually isn't) It is chinese though.

It is some kind of copy of the Miyota 8215 but that miyota runs at 21,800 while this one runs at 28,800 it is a very cheap movement it can be found at ofrei at around $18, so if it ever breaks down you can just buy another one. If you wanted to swap it with an ETA it would have to be with the 2836 and modifications would have to be done (a lot of them) so it is not worth it.

About the 8413 it is also chinese and they have different height.

I hope this helps

Do a search at RWG. There was a huge thread on this topic a while back and yes, I beleive that person was right from what I remember reading.

OK so, who is right now??

Some people come in here and say: he's right, some others will barg in thehouse and say: no, this guy is right...

Unless you have first hand experience of having tried to insert a DG2813 movement inside a PO, you are saying nothing....

No, actually I am telling him to check the thread at RWG--definately telling him something --where to find his answer , As I stated - or clearly implied--I do not personally know his answer--but gave him a way to find it.

If you spent less time making inappropriate remarks about guy's wives and girfriends in the VIP "post your picture thread" and spent a little time reading my statement, you'd get that :) :D

Well...

Some development about my Asian PO and its movement inside.

I emailed Andrew, who I bought the UPO from and I asked him for a replacement movement for my Ultimate Planet Ocean. I explained to him it was the Asian I had bought from him and i even attached a photo of the movement in my Asian.

He replied with: " the movement in your watch is a 21j Asian at 21K beats"

No need to tell you how shocked I was to read his reply.

So, I replied to him: "I feel a little ripped off that I was sold a 21K beat Asian, so...what do we do now?"

Just in seconds, I get a rpely to that message from him. He writes: with the photo you sent me, it is kind of hard to see but I know my stock is good and my supplier says it is 28K beats, I am sure your watch is a 28K beat.."

So, what do you guys think? Do you sense a little retraction of sort or is it just my imagination?

Or, do you think he was right the first time or the second time??

I do not know what to hink anymore. Andrew did say for me to take the watch to a watchmaker to verify the beat rate...in between his first and second statement....

Little white lie???? Or just nothing??

keep switching a running 28k watch and your running chinese movement next to your ear. You can hear the difference in the beat rate, if not you, one of your children probably can. Watching the balance oscillate you can sometimes see one is slower too.
