new super-rep quality

I've been known to have bad luck so I'm asking this question not to throw FUD on the new super-reps, but just checking if I've fallen victim to my own karma yet again.

I bought the PAM 199 regatta - great watch, I posted pics. I wore it almost steadily from the day I got it.

Today I needed to set the time/date and when I was turning the crown it essentially snapped off and the watch stopped working.

This along with the shoddy bezel makes me wonder if the super-reps are putting looks above quality.

EVERY week I read at least one post about those damn reps we worship and they keep behaving like POS money ripoffs...

Zetter....i dunno what to tell you man.....

I think we need to boycott....

An embargo.....a moratorium .....

To show how powerful we are with our wallet closed for business and the dealers and the "Maker" would hopefully smarten up????

I've been noticing--and experiencing--this too... prices and 'closeness to gen' are going up, while QC is going down..

Certainly cost of reps is going up. I know their was a thread a little while ago about how much "you would pay for a rep." I've really been noticing a lot of EXPENSIVE reps... over 500 bux. THis ain't chump change anymore.... QC has got to be there at these price levels or I just cannot see myself EVER spending that kinda cash with hardly any safety net underneath....

QC _has_ to be there.. If we had to spend an extra 100 bux fixing it up afterwards, then please SLASH 100 bux of the price...

we used to say that the quality of reps are so good that they can stand on it's own as a watch instead of a replica when we take away the brand names..

That's the truth.. take the brand name away, and all you get is a watch with so many debris under the crystal and a crappy lume job..

Sexy, Ive take my 186 on the water and swam with it and its been fine. Just to be sure you could have someone redo the seals and put some silicone on it and do a 3ATM water test on it. I belive all Davidsens are water proof to 3ATM

Its all about economics

Rep dealers will always dangle the perfect watch in front of us, knowing we'll keep coming back for more.

First, we just wanted something, and thats what they gave. Then we got picky, arguing little details, and so they'd keep improving with newer generations, and people would keep buying, upgrading, getting the newest/closest model.

Now we have the super-rep generation - an almost 1:1 rep - and if it lasts us 2-3 years; or more, thats great! for us! but not for the dealers, they have to keep having us come back. So now they've reduced the QC - the reps are inherently designed to not last as long, so we keep coming back for the latest and greatest (visually) ultimate reps.

All speculation of course - but it makes sense. I have a PO I'm very happy with, and if its running well, I won't be purchasing another one. If something happens to it, and I need another one, unfortunately I'll rather quickly buy one - because I freaking love that watch. Same for a good 111h, a sub, and a couple of other "must-haves"

But now, thanks a lot to the knowledge of this forum, I'm learning to move away from the dealers/factories that are producing stuff w/o QC, or atleast to a dealer who will stand behind their stuff.

:arrow: LISTEN CLOSELY - DEALERS AND FACTORIES - Earn our business, treat us well and with respect, and trust us we'll be back - not because the watch is broken or the latest model is out, but because we are crazily obsessed and absolutely love these watches

Guys, don't loose perspective !

If you want quality, go and buy the Genuine watch !
For 100-200 bucks be prepared to accept the exceptional rep that looks fantastic and will last several years
and the lemon rep that will end up in the back of your watch drawer (got two of those, both will be moded
to correct visual issues)

In my experience dealers will in most cases bend over backwards to keep us clients happy, give your dealer
a call, but as shit happens, don’t be disappointed if you end up with no results…
