New sinn u2!

I got from a trusted dealer from RG, King, Im not sure if she (Connie), is a trusted dealer here or not, but I've been buying watches from King for nearly 2 years now and it's my preferred dealer... Both Sinns are Swiss... All my watches, bar one trade, are Swiss..... And I had the Sinn water tested here with a WS, passed 30m without a problem... I haunt received the PVD one yet... Just ordered this week.

Forgot to comment on the Lume question - better then average, but nothing like the new Pam 177 or new Rolex subs from the noobfactory.... However, I haven't seen the original lume and don't know how it compares to the real thing... I've only seen the U1 in person, but again, no lume to compare....

Yes, would love to know aswell. It´s on my "want to have" list, so some, better more, pics and maybe a short review would really help me make a decision.. Thanks in advance.

I'll do a proper review later tonight with my good camera, not iPhone.... It is very well made, great power reserve, good wrist presence, and compares well with my Gen Oris 47mm small second date...

Sinn U2 GMT Mini Review

Ok, slightly better pics then the iphone......

To begin with, I'm a big fan of diving watches AND GMT watches... so this combination seemed a killer for me... everyone talked about how good the quality of the U1 was and I really wanted the U2 with the GMT complication ...I'm delighted with the watch... have been wearing it daily since I've received it.

weight - feels pretty solid even on the Zulu strap... I didn't want to cut the rubber strap it came with...

Size - very nice for a diver watch and not too tall, which I prefer - here is a comparisson shot with a DSN Panerai Pam 24A on a Gunny strap

Strap - but the strap and the buckle are both very high quality, and gigantic size.... I've got an 8.1" wrist and its very very loose... need to be cut...

Dial & AR - Nice strong tones on the dial, with almost invisible double AR... the AR is stunning and I don't mind cleaning my fingerprints... I end up staring at the watch, not realising I don't even know what time it is....

Argon Capsule - Not sure if you can see the recess of the Argon capsule here or not ...

Bezel - nice click, solid feel...

Pressure Test - I tested the WR @ 30m fine.... will see pool time soon ... I see no point in diving watches which are not water resistance... don't get me wrong, I won't go diving with it.. .that's what my Oris or Citizen are for.. but pool and snorkelling?? sure thing!



Lume: Ok by Rep standards, but nothing like the new 177 or 288.... its ok for me... good but not great ...

BTW, you are in Aus, I got my Oris from 'friends of Oris' .... great people and price too ... saved me over 600 from buying here in Singapore ...

love it! had one ordered but the missing 29, 31 markers would drive me crazy so i had to pass. ordered a U1 instead!

I may have to order the U1 'stealth' soon too ... or make my PVD U2 into a stealth watch a la the Solebox version... but it needs time and cash to do it ... I'm short on both counts! little patience!

Ok, after all these reviews... I went to an AD to have a look at the U2 and U1.... ended up buying a U2 GMT!!! will post some comparisson pics with the rep U2 tonight... but a quick round up:

Gen U2 vs Rep U2:

Gen has a much darker shade of grey, almost like a light DLC coating on it
Gen Crystal is much thicker, akin the Rolex DSSD (slightly curved)
the AR is good and doesn't print as much as the Rep, but the rep AR seems clear and with less reflection (perhaps as the rep glass is straight rather than curved?)
The Argon capsule seats lower then the rep, much lower
The numbers on the bezel are smaller with neater writing... sharper if you will ..
The lume is slightly better on the Gen, not by much and I wouldn't necessarily bother with lume on the rep, unless you like good lume (which most of us do!)

apart from that the rep is really well built, I highly recommend the rep... since I liked it so much I bought the gen... but seriously, the rep is awesome...

I'm keeping muy U2 rep... I'll probably get it DLC-ed and phantom lumed to be more like the solebox version... but its certainly a keeper....

and I was so keen not to cut the rep rubber strap... already cut the gen to size... the different in colour between the rep and gen wouldn't allow me to use the rep rubber strap anyway ....

I've got 2 and I'm not parting with either of them.. definitely worth it...

I'm making the rep into a solebox version .... with DLC coating... should be awesome looking too ... I'm really, really glad I bought them.. and even though I do love them in NATO's, I can even pull off a suit with them on the rubber strap... doesn't look too bad... (that said I'm wearing a Pam 288 today at the office... will go back to my U2 Rep on zulu when I get home!)
