Is the thickness really 13mm??

Sent from the RWI mobile app

Might be but the gen is 10.5. Still I could live with it, looks nice from the side.

If dealers pics would be more high resolution, it would be nice. Doesn't look like it has sunburst dial on either of dealers pics but when you zoom in, you couldn't see it as pics are really bad. :/

I had the opportunity to handle the gen in person and the sunburst dial is really evident. If it is present on the rep it is much too subtle to be accurate. The gen also has a vintage lume color while the rep lume appears to be standard. Looks like the crown and case guard shape is also a bit different and the finish on the hands is also incorrect (stainless on gen vs black on the rep). Gen on the left:

The hands are actually silver in the rep. It just looks black from the angle/lighting. The pictures on puretime clearly show silver hands. From all of the pictures i've seen, I am not able to detect the sunburst dial although puretime states "sun-brushed textured black dial"

You are right about that, thanks for the correction. Inaccuracies aside, I think the rep is a very cool watch. The case dimensions alone make this more wearable to me than pretty much any other Pam rep out there today. That said, I will most likely wait for an updated version or maybe watch for this version to pop up on M2M.

There's a bit of a shadow on the gen pic above as it relates to the CG -- looking at them side by side, they appear to be correct if that shadow is taken into account.

Why would the Rep manu. leave two holes instead of at least glue something looking like the screews on the Gen - i dont understand ?

BlLFINf.jpg

Anyone that would know about the holes will know it's a rep anyway. Can't expect perfection.

Agreed! And there are many more obvious flaws as it is right now - the dial for one.
And when taking any Rep with see-through back there will most likely never be a watch where it wouldn't be quite easy to tell a Rep from a Gen in close inspection!
And it's pretty clear that no "ordinary" screw will fit in the holes since they "head nowhere"/are not deep enough!

I was just wondering why they wouldn't make a easy fix of gluing screw heads on top of the holes to make it look much better [emoji4]?

They even have a very similar screw already glued on (I think) bottom right on the picture (I no techie as you can tell, so have no clue of what that little 1/8 of a gear with the screw in on the Gen is called [emoji848][emoji3])

That's because they want to leave the pleasure of an easy mod to us I believe... [emoji23]

Weird... All other sites state 13 or 13.5

Doesn't look like a 10.5 to me when looking at pictures

Still can't see sunburst dial...

Having a bit tiny wrist for the larger Panerai models news about the release of this model made me extremely interested. By the looks of things they did not include the sunburst effect on the dial (?) and thats a huge bummer.

I asked a dealer about the dial, he said "yes, it does" when I asked him if it has the sunburst dial but i'm still not convinced

So, the 676 is up to Intime and Ryan states the thickness at 10,5.

http://www.intime.co/panerai/3190-pam-676-v6f-1-1-best-edition-on-black-strap-p999.html

I guess the 23j base movement of the 676/677 is the same like the one being used in the 337/338 reps, so it's a pretty flat movement.

The PAM337/338 is stated with 10 case thickness on all the TD sites, so perhaps Ryan is right and the 676/677 also is just 10.5 mm thick.

If only someone had better pics of the dial. On some dealer pics the 677 clearly has a sunburst effect and the 676 hasn't.

Man I want this watch so much. Finally a Panerai that doesn't look like a tank on my wrist

Trusty has a video online (for those who don't know: Trusty is not a TD on RWI):

PAM676:
http://www.trustytime01.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=37_453&products_id=1596

And QC pics:

PAM677:
http://www.trustytime01.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=37_453&products_id=15967

QC:
http://www.qcpics.com/index.php/PN677LE

The 677 clearly has a suburst dial as you can see in the video. And the 676 still doesn't seem to have one. But if you have a close look in the vid at sec 15, you can see a slight refelction from the dial in the area above the 4 / 5 markers and especially below the word "MADE L" which indicates a sunburst polish.

So most likely it's correct what the TDs state on their websites and both watches have a dial with sunburst effect. Perhaps it's weaker on the 676 and the low res pics make it almost invisible.

Moreover in the video and on the pics the lume color looks more gen-like.

So we need a guinea pig. Any volunteers?

With a few filters you can even see it on a screenshot.

I hope this is not just a pixel error due to the resolution.

No filters:

Contrast, sharpness and shadows increased:

On the other hand, the gen 677 has dark grey dial and a completely different seconds subdial than the 676. So then again, these are two different dials and perhaps the 677 rep has a stronger sunbrush.
