Oooh!! So the black has silently improved too. I can't really answer definitively as I don't have any of the new dials yet, but I'd hazard a guess and say it's very likely a chemical process. Quite possibly anodised aluminium.

My thoughts exactly. The white dial looks like ref 15400SR. I'm pretty sure that's white dial only. AP made a few of the black dial ones in the 90s but none since AFAIK. Nonetheless, this is cool AF.

Ok, I've ordered both black and white dials.

Don't think blue dial on RG works well IMO.

As far as I can tell from these QC pics the tap definitely has the sharper definition that the new blue has, so certainly appears to be a new dial. All we need is some brave member to remove their dial and scratch the surface. See if it's a silver colour underneath and soft!! [emoji6][emoji6]

You think the AP logo has been improved aswell?
The gap between the A & P looks thinner.

The AP logo on the white dial is clearly thinner than the fat AP logo on the black dial. I think they did an upgrade of the RG black dial for this model.
