The reason why the reps still use the decorative plates even though the caseback is closed is because the gen has it too. Unlike various pics of the reps we've seen with its caseback removed, I've yet to see pics of the gen with its caseback removed. But one would assume that if the gen were to have its back removed, it would show the 8806 in all its beauty. So the rep only does it for accuracy because the gen would be like that as well if it had its caseback removed, closed caseback or not.
What BS are you saying? The 8806 has absolutely no decorative plate encasing the movement! Indeed its bridges and rotors have been engraved and decorated DIRECTLY, so once you remove the back of the case you do have easy access to the regulator's lever.
In the past to regulate the movement you had to completely disassemble the balance wheel and had to work on its body and spring to correct bits error and timing 'till they invented the regulator brace lever that makes it so much easier to correct the speed and exactness of the balance wheel oscillations by just opening the back of the case.
I have nothing against the
'decorated plate' but these are not only useless since anyone with a bit of horology knowledge will recognize the fake coaxial regulator by just seeing the true regulator hidden below the decorated junk, and they actually are an obstacle and a possible cause of damage to the watch when you have to disassemble the watch to operate on the regulator.
You will have to take out of the case the movement, remove all the hands, remove the dial and unscrew the ring below the dial that is holding the decorated plate. Just removing the seconds hand you can easily break the second pinion and even to free the winding stem or place it back can cause some displacement of the keyless work that will require to open the top plates to reposition all the parts.
They should really consider to find some different approaches:
# in the picture I posted above you can see a simple engraving and decorated movement from the ORF Seamaster WITHOUT any plate over it. To me that is perfectly acceptable and it looks nice and should also be more economical.
# find another simpler way to screw the decorated plate on the case and not on the movement so that if you need to remove it you will not need to take out the movement from the case, remove the dial and disassemble the watch just to access the regulator
# actually REPLICATE the 8806 COAXIAL movement so they can engrave and decorate its actual bridges and rotor
