Hi,
Recently signed up to this great site. Already bought 2 new watches, spare straps and an additional buckle from TD's listed on this site, this new hobby is going to ruin me financially!!!

However, I do have a question I hope somebody can advise on. As the watches I have purchased are replicas, what is the situation with taking these in to watch repair shops, Is this usually an issue? I want to have both watches water tested and resealed/waterproofed but am concerned that the vendor may be obliged to confiscate the 'fake' watches as they are with counterfeit currency? Does anybody have experience if this? Obviously I am not intending to go to a branded watch retailer ofnthe sort my watches are imitating, where they will clearly have an issue. But to a small, independent traditional watchsmith. Thank you in advance.

sorry who are?
i think it won't be the first replica this watchmaker has seen.. a cordial advice to the watchmaker beforehand can clear the issue whether he/she is comfortable working on reps..

high end replica movements such as the VS3135/VS3235 and CF 4130 will require a skilled watchmaker, probably with experience of the genuine movements as they are very close

Thank you for the swift reply, that makes sense. I will be sure to mention it first and see how they react. Thanks again.

If you’re handy, you can build a DIY waterproof tester for around $30 in parts from Home Depot.

Nice thought, however things like that never end well for me 😔, thanks for the suggestion though. 👍
