Hi fellows!
Think it’s a pretty good time to introduce myself, as I’m lurking around long enough as a ghost to gather others valuable information on my new passion, that really hit me by coincidence, but hard enough, to appreciate our community’s efforts to share it’s knowledge…
I was always interested in mechanics & engineering in general, but never related to watches. Watchmakers were magicians for me. Almost 30 years ago, I bought my first gen (a SD 16600 – which was my holy grail these days).
But long story short: My trusted watchmaker, who always serviced my piece of steel, decided to retire and in a state of mental derangement, I decided to service it myself… with endless hours on youtube, buying tools, parts and material… spending a lot of time down on the floor searching for screws and springs … more youtube… more tools… more parts… more time on the floor… but finally it worked out and made my day!
But the long way lead me across clone-movements, which where my sparring-buddies to practice on, before I touched my gen 3135 in a serious attempt. So what: some clone- movements on my desk without any purpose? It was just a matter of time, to put them somewhere, they belong to…
THX to Raffles, Amy, Yukiwatch and a few more, that some nice pieces can do their daily service. And special thanks to CTime (JC 126660/CMF) and TrustyTime (Vintage COMEX), who made my first rep-deals to a “peace of cake”!
But there’s still a lot of space empty in my watch-winder… So I try my best to stay patient, awaiting more parts for my next projects…
PS: Don’t judge the Coke/GMT-bezel on the Sub… it was one of my first jobs & my wife loves it…
