So I went ahead and purchased a New LMPO from Trusty Time. My first experience with Andrew (Trusty) but it likely won’t be the last. I’ve dealt with several major TD over the past 10-12 years and I have to say Andrew was top notch with respect to speed of his responses, QC Pictures and just general communication.
Over the past few days I have studied my QC pictures for the New LMPO, compared them to pictures of a GEN and pictures of the NOOB V6, and have made some observations regarding the flaws/tells of both reps. The New LMPO is a decent rep that corrects some of the flaws of the NOOB V6 and adds a few new ones. On the plus side the New LMPO appears to have a more accurate (closer to GEN) date wheel font than the NOOB V6 and also corrects the seconds tick mark length on either side of the ‘6’. However the Helium valve on the New LMPO is too long IMO compared to the Gen, and I believe the NOOB V6 is more accurate in this regard. The word ‘OMEGA’ on both the New LMPO and NOOB V6 use a heavier weighted type font than the GEN. The NOOB V6 has a more accurate Omega Logo as compared to the New LMPO which is too heavy weighted.
The lume for the hands and pearl is the wrong color (green vs blue) on New LMPO. NOOB V6 gets the lume color(blue) right, but both reps have weak lume compared to the GEN. This seems to standard fare for all reps compared to GENs.
In my opinion the case back for both the NOOB V6 and New LMPO leave a lot to be desired. The lettering around the circumference of the case back actually appears to be sharper/crisp than the GEN, but the font type weight is too light compared to the GEN. The SEAMASTER lettering for the New LMPO appears to be slightly more accurate(closer to GEN) than the NOOB V6, but they are very close and I wouldn’t argue this either way. However the Seahorse is really badly represented on both reps compared to the GEN. To me the GEN Seahorse engraving is softer, smoother and more rounded than either rep. The New LMPO is closer to the GEN in this regard, but the design of the horse is terrible IMO. The NOOB V6 Seahorse seems to be raised significantly in relief from the case back compared to the GEN and the Seahorse design is also bad compared to the GEN, but better than the New LMPO IMO. This is what I have observed, but there may be other things that I missed.
All of these observations are based on highly magnified pictures. I have yet to hold any of these watches in my hand so my observations are certainly open to challenge, and in the end may not be correct, but represent my best effort to understand better what I am buying. In the end my conclusion is that I wouldn't consider the New LMPO or the NOOB V6 worthy of being Super Reps, and maybe not even First Class ++. I believe that both of these reps are decent quality, trading-off one flaw for another with neither significantly out classing the other. Since NOOB V6 is no longer available, I think the New LMPO is a worthy successor and at the end of the day a fine rep, worthy of purchase if you are a fan of the LMPO. Keep in mind most of these flaws/tells require side by side comparison to GEN and in some cases high magnification. Because of the limited production of the LMPO it is unlikely anyone outside of this forum (or similar) or a knowledgeable AD would know it’s a replica. I plan to wear and enjoy mine without reservation.
