I think it is not impossible. They also build a tourbillon which is much, much more complicated than a simple minute repeater. I guess they don't see a market for such a development project. And I think this is correct.

Makes sense. Just curious, what makes a tourbillon more complicated than a minute repeater? I always thought minute repeaters are the pinnacle of watch movements..

The cage construction of a flying tourbillon isn't that easy and it is small. The minute repeater is more mechanics on - an additional - plate, not too complicated and not so small. They are close in relation of complication, but a watchmaker able to construct a flying tourbillon should also be able to construct a minute repeater. Nevertheless there is no market in the rep universe for these complications.

I see. I guess I am in the minority that would take a minute repeater any day over a tourbillon.

Its doable. Tourby is more complicated than a minute repeater. Chinese have several tourbies available.

Played twice with gen... stunner! Nearly bought one, at 35K€ off... the weight is IMPRESSIVE! And the height too = 14.2mm! the rep is only 12mm, plus other issues!

No. I also would prefer a working minute repeater as rep. Tourbys tend to look like cheap watches "with open heart" or "open balance" because nobody knows a tourbillon. You know what I mean?

^ That is true mostly for guys that dont know what a tourby is. Most tourbys from a distance look like just simple open heart watches

as much as i would like a minute repeater... its just so unlikely that the factories or seagull would ever produce one

Really nice looking watch but I think the faux minute repeater kills it for me :(

Does the minute repeater at least "slide"?

I for one would ABSOLUTELY purchase a working rep minute repeater if it didn't sound terrible. If it sounded like crying babies I wouldn't buy it.
