If you can see the crown with the naked eye it's probably not genuine. The real deal has a crown that is VERY hard to see with the naked eye, you have to have some decent light on it and ideally a loupe. It doesn't look bad though but it definitely won't fit your sub.

As for the dial, yes, it's genuine but there is no need to spend that kind of money. I bought a scratched 16610 Superluminova dial for $350 and a mint one for $500 and even that was a little high.

The 16610LV and the 116610 share the same dial, with the exception of lume color. The dial you linked is for a regular 16610 (sometimes known as the 16610LN but I consider that a misnomer.) I really hope you're not planning on putting this in the watch you have because you'd have to do some heavy modification and it would look VERY inaccurate.

Ahh right why won't it fit exactly? Width or height? I'm collecting parts for my own project not for this case. I would buy a TC sub but I'd prefer to source my own parts and do some of the work as I enjoy it.

Anyone have any input on the crown location? On most of the pics I've seen the crown is further away from the edge than it is on this crystal. The position looks similar to my rep being below the Swiss made rather than above it.

Is it the thickness of the glass that is the issue? Also just for curiosity sake would a genuine GMTII crystal fit? I'm guessing its not a width issue but a height one? Would the genuine sub glass be too high for this case? I would like to build a 116610 but my own version I'm not fussed about accuracy I just want it to look good. That's just me.

Don't bother doing any mods to that case. Get a different starting point as mentioned by others before modding. The rep 16610 is far more easily modded than the 116610LN and of course the gen parts for a subc are going to be very expensive!! Go for a TC sub from Tom and you could have a very nice close to gen rep!!

Good luck.

There are no 116610 cases available right now that will take gen parts other then maybe a crown.

The GMT and Sub both take a 295c crystal. No, they will not. The watch you have does not even begin to represent ANYTHING Rolex has ever made. Don't waste your time and money trying to mod it, it's pointless. Wear it and enjoy it for what it is and then focus your efforts on building something using any number of the highly accurate parts available these days.

I don't think Dan's enthusiasm can be curbed.
We're not trying to discourage you Dan...it's just we see a lot if wasted money and parts about to happen. Your not alone, many if us did the same thing until we started to listen. I know I wasted a few gen parts and a small pile money myself. You've been warned several times. There's no hope for ceramic and gen parts. None. Maybe in a year or so, but right now there is no answer to what your trying to achieve.
Good luck in your project, I wish you the best. :)

Guys you present very convincing points and thus I've decided to take your advise and build a Franken 16610 instead... My only concern is when these new 1:1 ceramic subs are coming out :s

One more thing guys will my band (rep 97200) fit a good rep 16610 case??

Thanks!
