I have read from experienced watchmakers in many ways the Sellita is actually slightly better than the ETA 2824.

They’re both the same except:
Autowinding module E ta > Sellita

I agree, The OR2 at the current retail of $1699, may seem steep but at their pre-order price around $1,200 it's a no brainer. Think about major Swiss brands around the same price point, Oris Aqua 43mm, for example, is around $1,800 with an SW200-1 movement, besides the movement everything else from midcase to finish, to the dial and bracelet, the OR2 outshines the Oris fold 10 folds. Much of that $1,800 paid is going towards the marketing for Oris but people gladly chew it up for a lesser quality piece.

I think the OR2 is dollar for dollar, pound for pound the best value watch in terms of quality and craftsmanship you can get if you are looking for the Sub style design and that Submariner/Rolex level quality.

I hope this is sarcastic

I don't know what you're getting at here, but that's obviously what he thinks, no sarcasm. please explain

IMO he lists some compelling arguments, do agree 100 percent on that one

He's not. And he's right, the Ocean Rover is the best Sub homage, period. If you want something either better or closer to the real thing, the only upgrade is a Rolex Submariner 16610. That is, getting all moral arguments aside of course. But speaking only about the watch, no homage gets even close to the Ocean Rover.

That's the standard for the Ocean Rover II with ceramic insert, actually. If you get the aluminum one it's a Sub style insert, whereas the ceramic has full marks.

The original 39 samples Sub homage is the best watch outside of Rolex 5 digit sub. With the bracelet adjustment it can be even better daily

I wish I could get my hands on one of these, but sadly they are all gone and quite rare to find 2nd hand. Meanwhile I'll stick to my "sort of 16800 transitional" 5-digit:

Really enjoying the Ocean Rover mark II, the best bit about it is it doesn't say Rolex on it and isn't a rep.... Ive owned 2 of the TC Subs, but could never wear them out. but were fun to have in the collection, with the Ginault people might ask is it a Rolex and you can say no... just a homage and to my watch collecting friends, you can give them the back story, and talk about how well built/made they are, which is the truth! also, I hate Mercedes hands.. so love the look!

this is a version with domed none AR coated crystal and none ceramic bezel, I think the new bezel looks too busy.
