New here from Toronto, I have a couple reps I previously purchased locally but I’m ready to place my first order with a TD. I’m going to get a VSF youth Sub from either Steve at The one or Marvellous Replica as both are only $5 apart. I do have a few questions though.

1) Canada post is about to go on strike so shipping will have to be Fed Ex or UPS - Marv mentioned more chance of getting seized….. how worried should I be about this?

2) Neither TD’s have the watch in stock. 1 says QC and week after payment received and the other says watches coming soon (2-3 weeks) - is it safe to assume that both of them are going to have to wait the same time to get the watch?

Thanks in advance. I think I attached a pic of my first to reps below 🤣

Welcome to RWI. What I have learned over the years is to find a TD you like and stick with them so you get better service being a regular customer. Don't change TD's to save $5.00. The long waits are normal if the watch is out of stock at the factory. I usually keep my order in place and wait weeks or months. Factories make the watches, TD's sell them to us. TD's don't stock watches. They go to Watch City in the middle of the night to pickup your watch from the factory while the police are looking for them. Most of the Police raids occur a the beginning of the year.

Oh man I don’t have any info on how you should ship to Canada but I’ll light some incense to the rep gods hoping that those pretty watches make it through to you. Welcome!

Hi and welcome to RWI! Glad you found your way here.

Please take some time to read the sticky threads in the new members area (all subsections), learn the basic forum rules and get some very good advice in the process. A number of questions has already been answered there, this is just an example:

As a new subscriber, you've already been directed to this thread, please read carefully and look through the linked additional threads:

Another good thread to read to understand where RWI comes from and some fundamentals is this:

Most of the information you need to know to start is there. If you're preparing to buy, read the stickies before ordering. When you're finished, you can continue learning by reading the stickies in all remaining sections. If it's stickied, it's important information.

If you intend to sell, read the sales rules and all stickies in the sales section with particular care and make sure you understand each single rule. Sales rules infraction is taken very seriously here. As a new member you are not eligible to sell. Using the sales section is a privilege, eligibility must be earned, make sure you know and understand how.

For anything else, feel free to reach out to @eBoy or me, we're happy to assist, advise, direct, explain. Don't hesitate.

Don't be afraid to post noob questions in the new members area. In doubt, use the flame free zone. If you feel uncomfortable anywhere in the new members area, please reach out to @eBoy or me. Mutual respect is of utmost importance to us. On the other hand, we're grown-ups and are supposed to be able to deal with a bit of irony, don't take it personally, ever, a bit of irony never harmed anyone. If you laugh at jokes, you'll make friends faster.

This forum is a treasure trove of information and benefits from the engagement of all members who take their time to share their knowledge, help each other out and have some fun. We hope that you'll benefit and enjoy this platform as well as contribute positively to it.

If at any point you feel to contribute also on another level, feel free to pm the boss (trailboss99) to become a supporter and get some little perks with the status (editing rights, for example).

Enjoy the forum.

Hey hey. Montrealer here. Steve at The One has been absolutely perfect so far for me. Can't recommend enough. FedEx has been super easy.

Hi and welcome.
Always nice to have another Canadian around.

The Canada Post strike could be a pain, I had a watch sitting with them for about 8 weeks the last time around. That being said, all the TDs here are great and will sort shipping for you so I wouldn’t worry too much. They tend to know the best route to take to ensure your watch arrives safe and sound.

Hi,
I'm in the same situation. I'm also in Canada and would like to make a purchase from a TD but with the looming postal strike I don't know. My TD has an option for FedEx but I heard there is a greater chance it could be seized.

What payment portal are you using? Wise?

What payment portal do you use in Canada? Because what I'm trying to get my head around is the money conversion. My TD website has the watches listed is USD but wants payment made in HKD when using a payment portal like Wise. So since I'm in Canada I would first need to convert the USD to CAD then use that sum in Wise to convert to HKD? Is that correct? What I'm worried about it the conversion constantly changes so how accurate does it need to be?
