New Code 11.59, will it be done?

I never liked the older version of this release so I was never upset that there wasn’t a good rep of it around. This newer, simpler release is great and should be easier to rep.

I know of that rep, but that was based on the original release of this model. This one has less complexity and could be a good one to get right.

How is the new version simpler? The dial is a lot more intricate having a guilloche pattern for one and isn’t a flat surface anymore like before. The minute counter ring is busier than the older model and the hands now have lume and are shaped differently from the old models. Case remains 100% the same shape.

Wasn’t the issue with the TNK rep (among others) that the crystal didn’t have that warped domed style crystal? My understanding is that the new 11.59 has a flat crystal.

Agreed with the dial, nonetheless, I hope it gets a rep made as it’s a beautiful watch. Thanks for the input @legend despite being as blunt as an anvil it’s nice to hear your thoughts

The crystal is one of the first things anyone should look for when spotting a gen code 11.59. The 24k “Audemars Piguet” appliqué on the dial won’t be noticeable in real life, and for one to properly assess the intricate workmanship of the lugs welding, the watch needs to be off the wrist.
But the crystal, that can be spotted very easily vs a flat one. And it’s important members know this when deciding whether to purchase a code 11.59 rep, to see if they can live with the flaw. To give an analogy it’s like having a 1x or 3x magnification cyclop on a 116610 Rolex sub. It’ll look off at first glance.
The new generation of the code 11.59 is a lot more intricate than the first generation product line. But honestly for me, even though I do have a couple of code 11.59s in my collection, I still think they are watches that are better appreciated off the wrist, than watches which look and feel good on the wrist. It’s pretty subjective though. You like what you like.

I think I’m one of the odd few that think the 11.59 is an amazing watch. I have a RO rep and although I like it, I’d rather a 11.59. You’re right regarding it needing the crystal to be repped correctly. A friend of mine has that TNK rep and is visibly incorrect from far away.

You’re absolutely correct that from a watchmaking point of view, it is an amazing watch. There is no dispute about that. My point is that while I recognize the various impressive individual features in the watch like the crystal and dial and lugs, there seems to be a lack of synergy when the watch is viewed as a whole. I can settle for the gold code 11.59 chrono with green dial (which I don’t own) if I’m asked to pick one to wear, but as I mentioned I found more joy admiring the intricate features of the watch off the wrist than I do wearing it. I do hope that the watch will evolve to reflect AP pedigree (for me at least) a lot better. I’m not denying that the code 11.59 is a horological marvel in many facets. I’m just saying that for me it has to be more about the intuitive admiration for the watch from a holistic aspect rather than for its individual craft features.

The lack of quality reps of code 11.59 is baffling to me. Now when a clone movement is available and thickens not an issue.
then again - the lack of quality reps is good for my wallet
