The 992 is one of the very few recent Panerai models that have appealed to me. Absolutely love thew 8GB dial, blue hands and 'aged' case finish. I tried one on at the AD a few months ago and came very close to buying it there and then, but decided not to because the P5000 is probably the worst looking gen movement and that the 368 was going to be my next gen addition because I've wanted one for a while (368 arrived a couple of weeks ago).
I then remembered that I have a fantasy build with the 6497 / P5000 deco plate, then the cogs started turning... I messaged our resident PAM building genius
@Belkin12 to ask if he would be interested in creating a 992 for me along with a few other projects that I'll share separately. Unfortunately the package I sent has been globetrotting since early November, so he hasn't received the P5000 deco plate yet, but the rest is finished.
Gorgeous, IMO... As always the skill, craftsmanship and finishing are impeccable. The glass blasted case finish is pretty much spot on. I'll be looking out for a slightly taller crystal that is closer to gen but this is what we had to work with and its great for the time being. If anyone has a suggestion for a crystal - please let me know!
Pics of the build (kindly provided by Belkin12) - I have plenty of straps waiting for it!
What a beauty! Congrats!
