hey mitchbaria you should just forget about a rep ceramic insert and concentrate your efforts to sourcing a gen insert , yes I know they are hard to find but not impossible

That's what I'm doing..... I've got two BP's that was ordered a while back that Sead sent me,,,, I'm going to play around with those for shats and giggles but I'm under no illusions...... I'd pay big money for one if I could find it,,,,,, but they really are very very difficult if not impossible to get......

And BTW I practice what I preach..... I just heard from BK to tell me he's started assembling my watch....

I've gotten to the point of being able to build my own and I really enjoy it,,,, especially the movement work,,,, it's absolutely fascinating,,,,, but a watch from BK built with this level of parts is just impossible to pass on.......the quality of this build it's going to be ridiculous!

It's a step in the right direction...

I wonder if he and Thomas got together and B decided to buy some spare parts he still had sitting around, either that or he shared his supplier.

As far as the dial, it looks like the old WM9 dial if you ask me. I'm pretty sure he has been out of his custom TW dial for a few mons now.

Still looks the part and besides, who will leave the stock insert in favor of a gen.. More than likely nobody....

I've said this before and have been largely ignored..sub.c is dead in the water! The inserts are impossible to replicate.PERIOD! They cannot be worn without any novice spotting them from three feet...

Touche, brother.

My TC 16610 already has the old better dial, WM pearl, Clark crystal, new assembly, gen ETA, BK dwo, tightest SEL, among other mods. What may only be left to get is a TW insert.

So who has a spare TW insert? ;)

Essentially you've already got the watch Bert's now building and it looks great! Guys no one should be questioning this at all,,, it's a no brainer! This is a must for anyone that doesn't have a gen construction LN.

Great offering, BK had to come back after the sell out of the BK TW. Still have my BK Noob 16570 from years back, real quality.

Does anyone know a link or an answer to this - as it is kind of related?

Which model year/serial was the crystal with AR cyclops introduced and is it still used today on the LN and LV?

Have all cyclops with AR to cyclops got a LEC?

Hey P, not sure I fully understand your question but this is based off the v4 case set Thomas offers and is to replicate a pre 2008 sub so no AR unless you explain the crystal is service crystal and LEC is possible as there were available after 04 if I remember correctly.

+1 Giobo,,,, I believe you've pretty much summed up what people that know what they're talking about are sure of.....

I just re-read this thread,,, it's amazing how guys with post counts lower then their IQ's are resident experts and can pick this watch apart,,,, My conclusion is they're FOS! This is a crazy good deal for what your getting..... and for all those experts that have joined up in the last few months,,,, here's what you do: source these parts and build one just like it,,, ha! (what a joke ) then you guys will understand exactly how good of a deal this is.... also out if the seven or eight hundred dollars worth of parts,,, there will probably be about half of those that will not be damaged to badly to re-sell and RSH or Bonesey or another member that actually knows what they're talking about will buy them off of you guys.... lol:goat:

BK crystal has a visible crown?? Maybe not. IMO I have owned offerings from both dealers whom are 2 of the best in this community. Just hard to justify 250 USD more for a Swiss Movement, better DWO (opinion), and Clark Crystal (these are not expensive). TC is offering is V5 for 450.00 without and insert and 495.00 with insert. That is a pretty darn good deal. In comparison to a Gen they are both a steal so no Sub fanatic should shy away from purchasing either.

P.S. A gen insert is a must for either!!

The crystal in the picture above is a tw crystal, it does have the visible etch at six. When he first released the tw sub he stated he would install these until he ran out, afterwards he would use the clark which had no etch....

It all came down to impurities in the tw crystal and cyclops placement, if the tw was bad he installed the Clark instead.

This is a great deal guys, a far superior offering than the original tw/wm9 v1. It has gen construction, correct high crown position unlike original tw so IMHO it is a better offering than the original. I also think his crown was better than the tc crown which seemed just a tad too thick.

All things considered this is $50 more than a tc sub when he offered at $650 and you have the sub cannibal building it.

Take it to the next level with a gen insert, crystal and crown and it's case closed....

TC has really great parts, but there issues now as to the availability,,, in know way am I saying anything negative and about TC,,, but when I bought my TC it required many mods to get it accurate as do everyone I've seen,,,,that along with buying a $400.00 LV insert puts the TC type I well over $1200.00 dollars.... and couple that with the fact TC is sold out of LN dials and as no plans of re-offering a LN,,,,, this is the only way to go....

Nice, mate. I'll contact him.

My problem with TC and Clark inserts are not their visual accuracy but that they are easily damaged or scratched. That is not the case with gen inserts. I hope TW inserts are much tougher than the others.

Personally, I see no point in going franken on a 16610 unless you get a working SA3135/Y3135. Why? Because anyone who will not handle your watch would find it hard to know the gen difference 3 feet away. But those who will ask to handle it are Rolex enthusiasts who would easily get pass by the gen parts (inserts, crystal, crown) and proceed to adjusting the time. By then, you're toast. Trust me, this has happened to me.

I thought I must have missed something... So I reread it too... I didn't see anyone tearing the watch apart... What exactly are you referring to?

Just remember, even a broken watch is right twice a day ;)
