What is the difference between a new and old asian valjoux 7750?

Actually - I'm interested in this too - a seasoned member on another forum led me to believe that the older valjoux movement is better....

Since then, i've tried researching to quantify his statement, but I can't find anything to backup what he's saying... Valjoux or eta = same thing as far as I can tell...

Aside from BPH, anything else different about old and new?

First off, the "old" asia 7750 was slow beat at 21,600 vph. They had a tendency to be somewhat unreliable although not always the case. ( I had two and neither would keep reasonable time so replacement with eta 7750 was in order).

The new asia 7750 runs at 28,800 vph and was more reliable, there is a difference between the newest version and previous version. New version has the micro regulator arm (see photo and red circled area), previous verisons did not have this. As far as reliability, I don't believe there to be much difference (experts chime in). I have a watch with the previous version and it runs great!

Used the Breit as an example, some of the dealer sites will show the movement as "new 7750" and will have the regulator. It is supposed to work by the way.

I'm not so sure about that. There are two factories making the 7750 and the first iteration was the lo-beat. But time moves on and quality improves. I'm under the impression that the newest version of the lo-beat is supposed to be excellent.

That's one thing about buying Chinese mechanical items, they get better, and often much better, in relatively short periods of time. Just look at the quality of the watches we are getting now compared to 3 or 4 years ago.

That's the kind of info I was looking for! I did see sites marketing a "New Asian Valjoux 7750" and was curious as to what made it new. Some even make note of a working regulator (which, admittedly, i'm still not sure what it even does).

The B01 is a great rep, but the gen runs an in house movement... As far as putting a 7753 into one - I've been told it's not possible as it's slightly different dimensionally than the 7753.... Your best bet with a B01 is to go for a black dial version with a black datewheel and white font....

I have no clue, but there are quartz ones out there so be aware.

Not sure on B01 version differences however, if they say the watch has a standard Asian automatic they may mean it's the standard non-chrono 21j movement. Means the chronos do not work, only there for looks. Yes, some reps do come with quartz movements, that's why it's best to stick with dealers listed on this forum, they can be very helpful.

Update: I decided on a Breitling Skyland Avenger V2, but they sent me a V3 (Not getting into it here) just received a few days ago. I will be taking it to a local watchsmith for an initial service. While there, I will take a photo of the mov't and post.

On a tangent while I'm here, this is my first good rep and first time getting it serviced. Is $100 a lot? What should I ask to be done specifically?
