Hi All,

long time lurker here, first want to thank you all for the great content that you create.
Built a 1675 based on the Raffles case in small steps. I like it as it is now, but thinking on doing some changes to improve it. The movement is a NOS ETA 2846 converted to GMT, dial and hands are Raffles, bezel set is from Ricks, crown tube was replaced with one from Cousins and crown is Athaya. Bracelet is a hybrid from many sources.
Tested to be waterproof to 3ATM.

Any upgrade on the crystal? Looking good

@Unpede - Does your bezel from Ric's rotate?

I purchased the bezel set from him along with his 25-116 crystal and the bezel is solid.
Same for me, stuck. Will take it apart because need to find our where the problem is. I also have the Ricks set on a 5513 and it rotates as it should and looks great. One of the items on my to-do list.

I see a lot of people have a gap between the bezel and case which makes sense as I believe the 1675 bezel is supposed to be pushed down to rotate. Perhaps I need to back off the crystal retaining ring a bit to allow the bezel some room?

If I figure anything out, I will let you know.

If you see how the retaining ring is mounted in a video, I can't see how it can not go all the way down. It is pressed down as far as it goes. We'll sort it out :)

I agree - it appears to only go on one way. I am going to take my apart tonight and try to do some fitting.

Anyone else have this issue that wants to shed some light?

Did is come with the flat metal spring? If so try fitting it without it.
Also does it rotate when you fit it together off the case?
Just be sure the crystal isn't interfering with/rubbing the bezel insert.

Did come with the tension ring and tried without it, same problem. Didn't try to rotate the set before installing it. There's a gap between the crystal and the insert and also tried without the insert and wasn't turning. Either friction in the ring slot or at the bottom against the case. Will have to remove the whole thing to find out.

What spring bars fit the case and the raffles Oyster bracelet? The ones that Ken offers that come with the bracelet don’t go all the way to the log holes. Does Cousins have the right ones?

Yes, you can fit 20mm (2mm diameter) stainless steel ones from that store.

Another question: does anyone know where to buy a bezel insert that actually fits the Raffles bezel ring? So I’ve bought two inserts from AliX and they fit but don’t look good. The size is 37.6. So I figured out that Cousins have them so I ordered two of them. The problem ist that they are too large for the Raffles bezel ring. They are 37.7mm and they don’t fit. Is there a trick to make them fit or another maybe another source??

37.7 - 37.6 means you only need to take off 0.5mm from the edge, you can do that with a piece of wet and dry sandpaper taped to the desk and work your way round the bezel slowly.
You may find you hit the top of the numbers but hopefully not.

There is also the "wine bottle trick" which reshapes the bezel slightly.
I used Grok to give you this method to save my typing...

"Reshape the New Bezel Insert:
If the new insert is too large, slide it over the neck of a wine or tincture bottle until it reaches a point where the bottle’s diameter prevents further movement.
Ensure the insert is flat and parallel to the surface the bottle is resting on.
Gently and uniformly apply pressure around the outer edge of the insert, rotating to distribute pressure evenly. This reshapes the insert by slightly bending the inner edge upward and the outer edge downward, reducing its diameter"

I think I’m gonna hit the numbers, because they are already very close to the edge. How about sanding down the bezel ring?
