Those gens are a different series.
The rep 087 indices are correct for the E series, rep caseback is also correct for that version. 064 is correct on both fronts as well.
Edge of the bezels could have been slightly beveled/rounded, and the HeV surface seems flat compared to Gen.

If this sells well, there could be a V2, and hopefully re-ignited interest from makers to build these oldskool models.

These are terrible IMO
Terrible is a bit harsh. They look pretty good to me based on D/E series gens. The Pearl is a bit small and the bezel edge could be a bit less sharp looking Let's see what they look like when people actually start getting QC pics.

I stick to my original comment. I have the Hfac087. Everything about these versions look wrong, regardless of the series it’s supposed to be repped after. Case, font, sausage lume, subdials etc.
But again, just my opinion.

If the $450 price stated earlier is accurate for these 'new' 064/087 reps, then I think VVS will have a hard time selling many of them.

I believe that @Martycus 's pictures of his gens are a valuable contribution to this thread as they highlight the significant difference in the shape of the mid-case along with the bezel / dials etc (regardless of series).

Looking forward to more pictures.

Yes I agree. Pricing antique panerais with generic movements the same as rolexes with clone movement is pure capitalism.
With the advancement of rep factories nowadays it is not difficult to make near perfect unitas/eta based panerais. If NOOB can make panerais that we all love in a shack somewhere in guangzhou slum area, surely VVS can do the same?

They had to probably remake all the cases, the supply chain for this kind of Panerai doesn't exist anymore, probably why cost is so high. It's the first time we have seen these kind of reps in years. They need to make profit.

Rep is just business. If Panerai demand was larger than Rolex you can betcha ass the cost would go down. Unfortunate but the reality.

Sourcing a $5k gen or a $1k rep of the 064/087 to use as a template would have been a paltry investment by a rep factory that actually gives a shit about what they are producing. As we know - those factories that do give a shit, get the market share (ie, good business).

Idk man. When you check dealers yupoo and swezgo for QC, you maybe see 1 Panerai out of 150 models. There isn't a demand like before.

And the Panerai I see isn't a vintage Bettarini, usually they are the new SBF/VSF model (Due/Submersible).

I appreciate the effort and the fact that someone is trying to do any release of these desirable older models. Hopefully the pictures are pre production and the release is more refined. If not I look forward to v2 with improvements, and perhaps a few other old school models coming out.

My initial impression were favorable. But after seeing these above two pics in the lighting shows how HFac is far superior. Hopefully as stated these are preproduction samples and that they will look better in hand.

I've got one coming for the sake of comparison, as mentioned it might not be a (fair) comparison between HF and VVS, but still, it's good to compare the key components i.e. case shape/lug shape/bezel shape etc
Which TD did you pick it up from ?

Just so everyone knows the pre-production samples had green lume. They changed it based on feedback they received. So we really need to wait to see what the final release looks like. There is a chance that some of the above pics are pre-production so I myself will hold judgment until I have it hand and can compare against Hfac. Is it me though or does the bezel sharpness look better on these ones?
