I wouldn't spend more than $2-3k for a rep unless it has significant gen part(s). My 2 cents, ofc.

I think you're confusing his pricing list, those are all different mods available that you can get. The final one on the list is the free sprung movement that you don't really need unless you want it and know what it is. With everything else should be right around the 2-3k mark.

Buy a 3k or PPF they are as close as you will ever need and can wear with confidence. To wear a watch like that you also need a credible lifestyle, good salary, nice car, classy clothes etc. If you working in McDonald's with this watch on it would not be credible.

I think people overestimate how many people care about your watch.

Unless you're in finance (and even then they stopped giving a shit unless you're wearing a rainbow daytona or something crazy), client facing, or C-suite for a large company, noone will care.

Exception given also if you plan to walk into a Hodinkee watch event lol.

Ok I have been looking at the patek 5712 on chazingtime08….what does the vsv movement give me and is it worth it? I’m considering just the “vsv watch” as the price is more appealing. I also looked that the “SW watch”…can’t see the difference between the vsv watch and sw watch…

No one gives a shit about your watch… and among those who do there are very few that would be able to call a stock 3KF or PPF 5712 without having a gen to compare. And the majority of these eagle eyed experts have a deep knowledge of the available reps and already suspect that all watches are reps anyways (call it occupational hazard).

Once you’ve figured that out, it becomes easier to enjoy your reps for what they are: amazing bang for the money .

It’s fine if you’re interested in these high end PP builds because you want your watch to be as neat as possible which will better satisfy your taste for refined and impeccable watches.

But if you are only interested in a build like that because you want to be in a position to fool someone who knows better, then you should think again… no matter how much money you throw at it it won’t fool one of these eagle eyed experts without at least a gen dial/moonphase/DW and gen hands. And that’s if the watch stays on your wrist. If you hand it off then it’s already game over.

Besides, how you carry yourself with the watch is 100 times more persuading than the watch itself. Some can be wearing a gen and ppl will still think that it’s a fake… conversely some could be wearing a DHG shitter and it would still come across as the real deal. It’s all about the attitude…
