Guys i need an advice, im in the process of buying a panerai 372 o series ZF maker.
i know the gen is using plexy as the crystal. But when i see the QC, it appeared that the plexy looks ugly when reflecting the light....and i love to do close up shot for my watches and put them on my INstagram.
you can see on the picture below about reflection on the plexy.
now i have a choice to buy it with sapphire crystal, that maybe will looks cleaner and also will be more scratch resistant than the plexy...

sooo....any of you guys that already has a pam 372....what do you suggest me ?

is it better with the plexy ? Or i better take one with the sapphire crystal (by adding $110 more)

any suggestion and opinions are very welcome....

thank you.

* aditional note : dont focus on instagram thingy...i didnt say that i will put this on IG. I only telling you that i like to shoot my watches and put in ig. Doesnt mean this will going to ig
too. The point is, if you like to do close up shot, is the plexy really this bad ? Or better get the sapphire ? Thank you

Come on guys... don't be too harsh to the OP... most our PAM replicas are so good and Instagram photos are so small and with filters, that nobody will notice.
Some guys take their replicas to ADs... that is comparatively much worse.

Come on guys.....you are all out of the topic.
Focus to the topic please
I only asking wether plexi or sapphire if you like to shot them close up. I dont give a damn about instagram or just for my own eyes pleasure !

i just a bit shocked to see the reflection on the plexy there on the picture up there.

and im asking you here that maybe already has that pam 372 with the plexi:

"If you like to shoot them close up pic, is that plexi too annoying to see ? Or is it ok in real life ? go plexi or go sapphire ?"

Yup, and for me, my opinion, it's only ever plexi.

But I sold my 372 as I was never happy with poor look of the rep movement.

So the next batch of gen 372s will have Saphhire, plexi will not be an option. On that basis I would go with what works for you, safe in the knowledge that it's repping the gen.

I just heard this. Are you sure ? Where do you get that information ? It would be interesting if that true

I have discussed this with two Panerai boutiques (not ADs), both on the U.S. And Switzerland. They have both said that the 372 would remain with a plexi dome, with a replacement in the box as before.

As far as I'm concerned, the gen 372 comes with plexi and therefore so should the rep. If plexi bothers you, I'd take a look at the 422, which should come with a sapphire crystal (as per gen).

The 372 plexi/sapphire discussion is on paneristi.com and the general discussion / information is that the 372 will be sapphire from October. Be mindful that the boutiques are instructed to discuss the current models and stock, as they need to sell those. Talk of significant changes will mean people stop buying the current plexi-based 372 & wait for the next batch. This information is already impacting 372 used values, along with over-production of the 372. Now is a really good time to snap up a gen 372, the plexi variant may well be the one to own as an enthusiast.

Depending on the light source You will always get a reflection on some corner of it - but You can shade the light and use something black to put in front of the dial. The way the plexi reflects light on the other hand also makes for unique patterns (and unique scratches which give it an individual charme). Sorry, this is not a PAM - but its a plexi..
As all Your other watches will have a sapphire crystal anyway I´d also say to choose this one with a plexi.

Imho, 372 is better enjoyed with Plexi. If OP made it with plexi dial and thought it would be a better fit for the piece, I think they were onto something. I have been enjoying mine with Plexi although light swirls and scratches occur with any kind of contact, It's a great watch and better enjoyed with Plexi.

Though, I still wouldn't understand how OP would charge so much for a watch and make up the excuse for not producing something different than a scratch magnet yet not sapphire by putting on a Plexi.

But great watch and go with Plexi. ?f you want sapphire go with KW PAM127 OR 217!

Most of my PAMs with sapphire are terrible, because there's no AR or it's very poor, dunno..( 438, 312, 359,..). But they all look awful and almost impossible to photograph. I've bought a Noob 372 recently with plexi and there are significantly less reflections than on my sapphire ones, even though it's an extremely domed crystal.

If you don't want reflections, get a Planet Ocean. Looks like there's no crystal over the dial :)

Gen is Plexi and I love Plexi. When I bought my Speedy it had to be Plexi. Also have a Plexi Sinn Fleiger I love. It has a different more classic look.

I would go with what is most pleasing to your eye and reassuring to your sense of security. Nobody on the street or anywhere else even notices your watch. Make yourself happy.:thrasher:

You nailed it! If you pick watches that please you and make you feel special, it really doesn't matter whether it's a rep, gen or a cheap Casio.

I have a Noob 372 with plexi and love it, and yes the plexi is easy to scratch but if that happens you can polish it with toothpaste, if you choose sapphire you'll totally change the look of this watch that makes it so special but it's just my opinion.
