Hello friends - I purchased my first watch from TrustyTimes. It’s a beautiful watch, but the movements were broken. Do not wind, date change, or second hand movement. Basically didn’t work.

After several emails back and forth they are asking me to ship back to them. I’ve sent videos and pictures of the defective watch. Surely there is a better way to get this resolved?

I recently moved to Tampa, so I don’t know a watch service shop that would be willing to work on a rep.

They have offered the best solution, which is what you would do if it was any other defective item. Return it for a replacement, job done.

Sad to hear, but it happens unfortunately.

I would check with one of the ones you find here:
Rather check with Trusty to see if he is willing to cover some of the repair cost. The last resort should be sending it back to China, in my opinion.

What’s the watch model and mvt inside?

You’re 100% sure the watch isn’t working, right? I have a 15510 myself, and the winding on these watches is incredibly smooth - it can almost feel like there’s no resistance. Additionally, the watch often needs a little shake to get going, even when fully wound.

The thing is that OP says that even the winding is not working, not date change

While I would also be reluctant to send the watch back to China, I do wonder if that’s not the less problematic solution 🤔

I think @legend knows this mvt very well, maybe he can give his view

I’m fairly sure there’s a watchmaker in the Tampa area, but you’d have to search to see definitely

Yes I tried winding it several times, then put it in an auto movement box for a couple days. The date wheel doesn’t move, nor the second hand. Hour and minute/hour are the only ones that move by crown.

I’ll give it another shake.

Ask them in case it gets lost or seized by customs if they offer guarantee and they will resend you a new one. If they do then the best solution is to send it back. Andiot for example offers guarantee, Trusty I don't know

True, but some of the newcomers who end up here don’t know the front from the back of a screwdriver, so I thought it was best to check 😅

After you’ve wound it up, do the minute and hour hands move even though the second hand remains still?

If you end up sending it back to China now, I would wait a bit. It’s probably a bad time to send anything to China right now, I can imagine the backlog there is huge after CNY.

No he said he could move the minute and hour hand via the crown.

No, there are no timing mechanisms that actually work. Andrew is recommending someone in the US.
