I've given up on the aging stuff, I've learned the har way that it's very to easy to get it wrong. I aim for a "new old stock/service replacements" look instead.
Shaving the case is quite easy with a Dremel, files, abrasive paper and Dialux. Replacing the crown and tube requires a thread cutting tool and some Loctite. Replacing the pearl requires a (very small) amount of lume powder. Replacing the crystal is a no-brainer. There are a few really good tutorials, search for them.
If you find a source for the caseback, please tell.
(Of course you need tweezers, finger protectors, screwdrivers, a bit of luck, rodico, hands lifters, loupe and other watchsmith tools as well if you don't have them already.
