Just got my first rep today which I bought from timeshops.net. It's a beautiful Rolex GMT2c. I'm not a watch expert, but to me it looks and feels really good.
I took a few photos. It was quite hard to deal with the reflections tho. So, what do you experts think? Judging by the looks is it close to gen? I can't see any difference. And don't mind the dots on the crystal, it's just some dust that landed on while i took the photos.

The lume is quite strong too.

Now it's time to wear it and see how it keeps time.

And I got one question. I will have to take out one or two links to make it fit my wrist. Can i do this myself and how? Just unscrew the thing in the link and push it out? Or should i take it to the jeweler?

Just got this one and am already thinking about next rep. Damn.. Think it will be an Omega :)

I personally think that the GMT IIc is the best looking watch that Rolex has put out in YEARS. I think that the rep version that you purchased is one of the best replica's that we have seen.

You can simply unscrew the screws in the links and PULL them out. They are not pins that need to be PUSHED out.

With a small jewelers screwdriver, it is the easiest "mod" you can do at home!

As I said, the version you have is about as good as it gets. But there are still a couple flaws that you should know about.

First, the cyclops on the GEN has AR on it. If you look at pics of a gen, you can see how much more clear the date window is then the rest of the crystal.

Second, the rehaut engraving ROLEX ROLEX ROLEX on YOUR watch is properly aligned (or at least really really really close). But it also appears that it is in fact NOT engraved, but printed. For some reason (probably cost) the factories have decided that it is easier (cheaper) to print this than to engrave it as it should be.

I have seen them engraved (but with bad alignment), printed with black ink, and engraved (with bad alignment) and then filled with black paint.
The genuine watch is engraved ONLY.

If you cannot see ANY signs of the ROLEX ROLEX ROLEX being engraved, then it is only printed and nothing can be done about it. If you can see that it is engraved and that the letters were painted, then the watch can be opened and the paint can be removed. That is a fairly straight forward project, but the movement needs to be removed, the crystal needs to be removed and then the empty case needs to be soaked in acetone.

BUT, if that is done... you will have a GREAT watch.

The only other issue I see with your watch is that the date wheel alignment seems to be a little low. This is VERY common lately, and can SOMETIMES be fixed by removing the overlay and gluing it back on properly. But SOME of the watches coming out now have poorly printed date wheel overlays and nothing can be done to make them better.

In any event, your first watch is a keeper... Its one of my all time favorites!
Congratulations!

Such a nice watch. Congrats! Thanks for sharing. How is the weight on that rep? Does it feel pretty heavy?

The ROLEX ROLEX ROLEX on yours looks engraved to me! I hope it is at least...I'll have to grab one of those. Let us know if it is or isn't please!

Thanks for the replies.
I took out 2 links and it fits me perfect now. Even found the jewelers screwdrivers set at home.
About the rolex rolex rolex thingy, it does not look engraved to me, unless the engraving is 0.1mm deep. I will try to make a really close up macro shot tomorrow.
The watch weights 145 grams without the 2 links that I took out and it's really nice to wear.

Good first buy imo. Out of all my reps this is by far my favorite and gets the most compliments. That's how close to the gen it is. Most of flaws CBR has mentioned are the ones you don't really mind because they're barely noticeable. I only found out about the rehaut engraving flaw a few days ago myself.

Keep taking wristshots and you can post it in the weekly wrist check thread. We need more some more Rolex's represented. :)

I'm sorry but I'm not an expert in Rolexes.
Is there the Rolex logo engraved on the crystal in the original GMT?

No, it was added during the later run of GMTII (16710)

Great looking watch. I just got two questions. 1 can the gmt hand be offset to another time zone, and 2 does the bezel move in both directions?

To answer a few questions. This watch has an asian 21j movement. And yes, you can set the GMT hand and rotate the bezel in both directions.

So, shouldn't this have the engraved logo? I thought that the GMT with ceramic bezel was the last version of the GMT II.

This one has the engraved logo too. If you look closely you can see it. Photo was just made at such angle that it is barely visible.
