Hi People,
After many months of research, research, and well more research I finally got my hands of an Ap Diver V7 through m2m sales....Oh my how amazing it is, I could not have chosen a more perfect watch to enter the rep world!
I tried on the gen Diver at a boutique in Central London a month or so before I got mine, there is literally very little difference between the two. The rep:
- Sits as comfortably
- The strap is 99% the same as gen, with the gen buckle being of better quality but not justifying such a price difference
- The weight of the watch is the same
- It even feels gen. Ofcourse gen will always feel gen, however this is damn close, and I think Gen 'feel' is quite placebo in nature for alot of watches.
- The rep is far more stunning, purely due to the Domi 2xAR Crystal installed. My rep came in better condition than a pre owned £10,000 gen...
I find myself staring at the watch in traffic and generally all the time without looking to see what the time is
When I first opened the package for the watch, I literally tapped on the crystal as I thought it was missing! I wear it often, as a daily beater. It keeps time well, and its power reserve is great.
I really do not see a reason to go gen when it comes to the AP Diver, it is a super rep by all accounts.
The next step will be for me to get the full DOMI treatment including getting a Tissot Powermatic 80 movement conversion (although the sweep of rep v gen has a very little difference, unless ofcourse side by side).
I have a lot of friends with gen watches (apart from the ones you guys busted here- thanks!) and they are all simply in awe of my Diver. This includes people with £20,000 (28500 USD) + Gold Rolexx YatchMaster II's, as well as Rolex GMT's.
I came across RWI when deciding it was ridiculous to purchase a watch for untold thousands without truly knowing what the watch was, and doing it out of pure materialism and just being able to financially.
Through RWI I have brushed gained so much knowledge from being a complete noob (not even knowing what 'winding' a watch was) or even how a mechanical watch works. I kind of expected to put a battery in my new AP when I first decided that's what I wanted *cringe*
There are countless threads of knowledge on here, I am excited to be able to learn and share my rep journey with you guys... and who knows I may even buy a gen in the future!
The handcraft involved in making these timepieces is truly amazing. Now for the pics.
Take note of the two divers together, I got this from another thread somewhere, note the little differences between the two. Also I cheated with the lume by holding it under light before taking photos,I'm pretty sure a lume upgrade by VAC or Domi will get it up to par. Nevertheless look how it puts the gen Cartier Santos to shame...
