My first purchase - Submariner

I recently made my first pruchase of a Submariner from J Time Watch Store. It was a wonerful experience other than the waiting (about three weeks) for shipment to Las Vegas in the USA. I followed up with a lady datejust for my wife. We are both thrilled.
The dealer has notes on his website that are very helpful. He mentioned that some factories are now doing "layered gold" instead of gold plating. Can anyone comment onthat.
