Above is my humble little watch collection. Consisting of a genuine Ball Master Engineer II Diver World Time and a Luminox 6400 F117 series.

Initially I had my reservations about buying a replica, the first would be that I'm not used to anything that does not have tritium gas tubes. It's just so handy when checking the time in the cinema or in a dimly lit room.

But after taking the leap of faith and getting this PAM111M from Pure Time, I have no regrets, the lume is extremely bright and often last through the night to the next morning.

I'm not much of a replica expert, as most can tell, I'm pretty fresh in the rep world, so I can't really tell what needs to be fixed on this watch, it looks alright to me, but I'll buy the high beat 6497 when this low beat one in my PAM111M goes bust

Hope the readers here enjoy the pictures, they were taken with the Canon S95, nothing professional, just set the white balance to a warmer mode and shot around F4-F5.6.

Cheers!

Beautiful Pam, St. Enjoy, and WHEN you buy more (which you will, now that you're "infected"), be sure to post pics so we all can enjoy with you.

Thanks Dave! I honestly hope to get the 005M V2 by Christmas but like most males on the forum, I've got the girlfriend barrier to overcome, I had to beg and rationalize why I wanted a rep instead of a gen other than the obvious big price difference

True to that! The manual wind Pams are pretty good out of the box, I'm no expert but they look wonderful and thanks for the wel wishes :)

Great choice for a first rep. Good news and bad news though....the good news is the PAM is fantastic and needs almost nothing out of the box. The bad news is that it's so good (and your gens are so nice) that you'll get used to the quality and subsequently will want only the nicest reps and end up spending more money than you thought in this hobby :D

Well said and I couldn't agree more Rob, my eyes are fixed on the 005M V2 from Noob factory, following that would be DSN's pre V watches such as the

http://forum.replica-watch.info/vb/showthread.php/new-born-5218-203a-79982

and the

http://forum.replica-watch.info/vb/showthread.php/new-born-5218-207a-79203

Just curious, what do you think of them? Are pre V watches from DSN reliable and great out of the box? Or would they require some work?

Personally I think Pre-V's are a whole new ballgame. DSNs are very nice watches, IMO about as nice as the H-factory series. Well built, movements are solid, won't fall apart on you. Thing is, vintage builds like that have SO much more to be finicky about...the right hands, the right vintage lume, the right case, the right lugs, the right CG and crown, etc., etc., ad nauseum. A well-built Pre-V can easily hit $750-1000. A lot of people use DSN parts as a base for their builds, but I don't think I'm completely qualified to answer whether or not they're accurate to gen. I think that question would be better posed to a Pre-V expert such as Coldi.

Thanks for shedding some light on the topic Rob, your advice has just reminded me why I'm not going to buy a pre v, for that amount of money, I'd stick to the "normal" Pams and be happy :biglaugh:

I saw Coldi's pre v, unfortunately I don't really understand how he made his watch, my knowledge is very limited in the field of where you can custom build a watch like his. Right now I'm just keen on getting a Noob factory 005M and a 292K hehe

I'm right there with you. I've been on the boards almost a year now and I'm still over my head on pre-V's. One day I'll undertake a build like that.....205/A's and 207/A's get me every time I see them.

Very new to the rep world, been lurking the forums and really getting sold on Panerai. Most likely will be my first rep, but not last.

If you buy a PAM, that's going to become more true than you could imagine...they're addicting!

Thats true. Got my first Panerai 10 days ago, but i want more! And more......

That's only the beginning, too. Half the fun of PAMs are the multitude of straps that you can use them with. I've spent more on straps than I have on the watch heads themselves!
