Someone send this link to the factory maybe their will learn about the formulation and get it right. I doubt it, cause it was not that hard to do to begin with, nothing against the OP, you did an awesome job. Something so simple, I would be more than happy to drop an extra $50 to $100 for them to get it right from the begining. This is not something they overlooked but they just can't make it perfect to piss off the Gen Co. Or the crack down will be twice as hard. They can rep a ming dynasty vase that sells for millions that fools even the most seaoned experts. But a hobbist can do it better with this top selling IWC rep. Where is the logic?

You'll need to reset the chrono seconds hand, ie remove it and reseat it back.

Can be done yourself if you're confident and have the tools.

I used exactly the same paints that you suggested. In a daylight it looks more gray.

I mixed it but now I think that xf56 alone would be the better choice.

Looking good!

I wasn't fully satisfied with the effect of these Tamiya paints because it was too silver even if I used only this darker one so I gave another paint a try.

The colour number is 53 Gun Metal. Worth trying but I still don't know which one is closer to gen....

EDIT:
After applying four thin layers I'm finally satisfied. For me this metal gun paint does a better job than tamiya. It looks like that:

I love the watch but hate the topgun logo. Now that I know how to remove it almost completely with paint thinner and a qtip I will order. I actually like the look of the logo totally stripped of all paint

Awesome thread and fantastic 'How To'! Thx for sharing!!

I also prefer the watch without the logo. Stealth ftw :)
