Hi guys, just receive my IWC topgun V2 (i don see any engrave at the back of the buckle so i assume its V2). Super happy with it as this is my first rep.

TogGun Logo too white

I feel that the topgun logo is too white and i decide to do some mod. Got some experience with plastic scale modelling, so decide to go through all my paint to get the correct colour(as close to the gen as possible). Saw it at the airport and from photo its seem like the colour is kind of like gun metal.

Shortlisted Colour

First is to remove the white colour that come with the watch.

Than paint over it with the colour that i want

First colour

Feel that this first colour is to shiny and silver

Second Colour

This colour seems too dull.

decide to mix both colour and this the final result.

Will let it dry for a day and compare with the GEN photo and hope that its close to the GEN colour.

Looks great, but could you please confirm gen color. I thought there was a hint of gold/bronze in there. Thanks for the info

Hi guys, thanks for everything. try to make it as clear as possible for you guys so that its easy to follow. Please forgive me if any of the part is unclear and the poor photography. Any question feel free to ask or even PM me. So here we go!!!!

Item
-Mr hobby Thinner 400 & Tamiya Acrylic Paint
photo24_zps28f1681f.jpg

-Tamiya Acrylic Paint XF-56(Metallic Grey) & X-11(Chrome Silver)
NOTE:IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO MIX THE PAINT PLEASE USE XF-56 AND NOT X-11
I prefer to use Acrylic Paint (aka Enamel Paint) than water base paint as they are easier to control perfect for small detail stuff and there are harder to fade off.
photo20_zpsf27acd4a.jpg

-Paint Stirrer (to mix both paint at 2:1 ratio, 2 part XF-56:1 part X-11)
-Tamiya HF Brush ( If not any brush will do, try to get the better grade brush as the hair from the brush will not drop out and get stuck on the paint job)
-Cotton Wool and Cotton Bud

photo23_zps4795e912.jpg

photo22_zps86e30867.jpg

Remove the paint from by using the cotton bud with the thinner, this is to make sure you remove all the paint from the edges.
photo17_zps2c6017a0.jpg

photo8_zps35262230.jpg

Paint over the Top Gun logo with the colour. (I use the 2:1 ratio)
photo14_zps1622924d.jpg

Now apply a small amount of thinner on the cotton wool and whip over the logo lightly until there's not more paint outside the logo . Due to the engrave, the paint in the logo will not be remove.
REMEMBER DO THIS WHEN THE PAINT IS STILL WET!
photo18_zps18469904.jpg

PLEASE NOTE!!!
- Do not apply a large amount of paint at the first time, this will actually fill up the logo with paint. Kind of like filling up hole with cement. The trick to get the perfect coat and look is to apply a thin layer over and over again.
- It ok if some of the paint in the logo get remove the first time, wait for the paint to dry (30mins -45mins), clean up than apply the second coat. For me to get the desire outcome i did 5 super thin coat.

So this my 1cent to mod your top gun. Please feel free to PM or ask me question. Once again please forgive me for my bad english and poor photo.

Cheers!!!
A very happy topgun owner!!!
