Ok I opened it. I learned my lesson. But it was a fun lesson and hopefully someone else will learn from it too 😀. I reverse image searched it and it looks like a 2813 movement. So maybe a year’s worth of use? I don’t care, I like it.

I’ll post again once I get a VSF copy lol.

Thank you for the comps @asusundevils1971 !

Appreciate you cracking it open my friend!

To anyone outside RWI the main difference in all three watches is the difference in price.

Yes that is either a 2813, or the CHS Modded GMT variant of the 2813, the DG3804 ;)
My question is still un answered, i.e. can the GMT Hand be adjusted and does it run at 24 hrs or 12 hrs i.e.half speed of watch hours ?

If it does work as per Gen then it is a good price for what it is.

This old thread refers ....

These watches in my pic link below are much better value for money and available from @RepPossesed fitted with the CHS Modded 2813 ....

The GMT hand moves separate from the local hands. So when the crown is in middle position it can be moved like the local hour hand, but only in clockwise direction. When changing the local time, the gmt hand does not move. Does that answer you question?

Still doesn't take an expert to tell there is a huge difference.
Yes, huge difference...

Visually let's say Gen looks like a gen 100%.
Clean is close to 99%.
And the AAA from Canal Street is like 20%.
So it is cheap but value is not there.

The more immediate thing here is the end links are off a Datejust bracelet and not the type that come on a GMT
Along with the bezel number infill which was never white on a batgirl
And you can tell it’s a 2813 movement just by the fat date font, no need to open the watch
9/10 of these 2813 movements are poorly misaligned in their date or cyclops quite often both at the same time making them look just terrible
If you buy from someone trusted they will try and weed out the poorly misaligned crap

The not good:
  1. Well, once I got all the plastic off, it's definitely NOT 904 steel LOL. It's cheap metal, reminds me of a Pagani Design bracelet. Shitty feeling, loose and light. In my defense, I couldn't tell with all the plastic on it (and it did say 904L!)
  2. The clasp is something else. It requires so much force to open it, I think I'm going to either break it or cut my fingers open. You really have to pull a lot to open it
  3. The bezel does not have a great feeling when turning. It's sticky (feels like it's catching on something) and doesn't have a good clicky feel. It does turn at least.

Definitely sounds like the CHS Mod movement, but important to clarify that when you pull the crown all the way out then turn the time hands through 2 hours the GMT only moves around ONE HOUR. If so then yes, it works exactly as per Gen (y)

Unless they have a modicum of optical and tactile sensory perception.

They are all chinese toys some better than others, Joe public DGAF and wouldn't notice the difference if we superglued a hand set on a 40mm stainless steel washer and used a piece of ratchet strap to hold it on our wrists :ROFLMAO:

I hear you but I think the past few years has seen watch appreciation become more widespread and an increase in people buying snides on holiday, dhgate/aliexpress and other subTD websites

100% agreed there are so many folks buying from the fly by night sellers.

Definitely sounds like the CHS Mod movement

The factory making these CHS2813 don’t sell watches with that bracelet and mid case or bezel, so I don’t think so.
And there’s only one factory I know of selling it because it’s very new to the market.

The more clear way to tell is if the hands are stacked correctly and if the gmt changes an hour at a time while setting.

Thanks for clarifying maestro ;)
As you know, I've got 3 of these now, and find them very stable with good time keeping (y)

So just for educational purposes would it be fair to say that these CHS Modded 2813 movements are better than the run of the mill plain Jane 2813 found in millions of cheaper reps ?

I ask because my guess is that they are probably built in a specialised factory with better trained staff and cleanliness, as opposed to the mythical dirty old shack with inexperienced employees :ROFLMAO:

Look, I posted my experience as I'm sure others would be interested in what you can get from Canal St. I was, and I know others have asked, so I shared. I know it's not a $500 rep, but I still think it's fine (OK, except for the date and the bracelet). For a noob like me, I couldn't really tell that much difference when looking at gen pictures online. Obviously you experts can see much more than I can!

I don't mind spending $80 for a shitter to try. Maybe it's worth $50, but who cares. Like I said, I have a CF Daytona that is my "nice" watch :).

I have considered doing this a couple times over the years (most fun trips to NYC I/we will do the Canal St thing for S&G's). We (the lady) have certainly had fun and bought a few items (non-watch) from the Chinese ladies with the laminated picture books!
So I for one appreciate you posting and telling your story and showing the pictures!
