Also, what do you guys think. Use the original back or the aftermarket one?

Cool looking......yes........also kind of like a cheap rep.

keep the original caseback.

P.S. I hate you more..... ;)

Dude.... what a score man.

Definitely don't send it to RSC. They will charge you $600+ just to service the damn thing.

Knowing me i'd probably drop that 1570 into a sweet franken build.... DJ's just ain't my thang. Does that datewheel have open 6 and 9s?

HUGE Congrats! I love ebay stories like this.

You know, when I bought this, I had FULL intentions on taking the 1570 out for a build, sell the dial, case, hands, etc., but when I saw it, I just couldn't do it...

As for the date wheel, I'll let you know in 4 days, as it's a slow set and takes forever to change the date, but I believe it does have open 6's and 9's.

What an AMAZING find!!! Hell, if it were me, I'd even keep the bit of rust on the rehaut or dial that's there! That thing's probably earned every bit of it's patina...

Use the aftermarket one so you won't further add to the original's wear and tear in the rare case you wanna sell it later.

Good point. I'd leave it on just to show the MVT. How many folk have ever seen a Rollie MVT?

I'd contact CLS. He's got years of experience buying and restoring old watches (including Rolexes) for resale. That's his specialty. He can probably make it shine without the damage that RSC might cause. He's doing one of my old DJ's at the moment.

Personally I'd change the bezel and the crystal. Old plexi crystals don't add a thing to the value of a watch. And, it's just my opinion but I really don't care for those engine turned bezels. They cheapen an otherwise expensive looking watch. And that one will never be an expensive collectors item so you might as well have it spiffed up and enjoy it.

Congratulations on that one.

So overnight, The crystal got full of condensation. Do you guys think new gaskets will fix this problem? I'm probably just going to leave it apart with the back off any crystal off to try and help.

First be sure to open the watch and leave it open in order for humidity to evaporate.

Then yes, replacing the gaskets (and maybe the crystal) will most likely help improving the waterproofness.

Thanks, Wiz! I just opened it up, wiped the condensation out, and left it under my lamp for a little while. Seems to have done the trick, but new seals have been ordered, and the new crystal should be here today!
