After months of trying to source B&R parts and Silix finally said that he could not get the parts I needed, I ended up asking for a whole B&R watch. Well I ended up not getting the one I wanted and sent it back for an exchange ona 3717.
Frest start right?
Wrong!

I picked up the watch today at the PO and got it home about 1 hour ago , opened it up ( I was excited like Christmas morning when I was 8!) Unwrapped the whole thing and saw it was not running. Maybe it needed a shake......no luck.

The chrono was not reset to zero and I reset it and it snapped right back up to 12 on the mark. Still no second hand movement. I unscrewed the crwon, a few gentel winds, set the time and date and ....nothing.

Should i be pissed.....YES.

Did I give him a chance...yes. I just sent him an Email DEMANDING a replacement sent immedeately while i again go to the PO and send again another watch back to Silix at my expense.

At this point I feel like asking for a refund but Im not sure if thats the right thing to do...opinions on that?

Here are the pics....nice looking watch. it would be awesome if itFUCKING WORKED!

Not sure which version I got, V1 or V2..any help on that.

Sorry for my rant but i think i have been a good member here and a good customer to Silix but this is ridiculous.

Wow.. really sorry man... I don't know whether a full refund is in order or not, but if I were you at this point that's what I'd ask for.

(that 3717 is a V2, btw)

Re: My 3717 arrived and IM PISSED!

Im beside myself right now. I sent the email asking for an immdeate replacement. Nest is a refund if i get dicked around . I want to post a "positive" in his dealer section but at this point I cannot.

Im not sure whats wrong with the watch but I had to pop it open and look inside, a preliminary look shows nothing jamming the works. Im at a loss. What movement is in ther anyway? Could I or Should i replace it>?

I should not be opening up anything when its 1HOUR OLD!!!!!

I hope the Admin and membership is behind me on this hosing.

Re: My 3717 arrived and IM PISSED!

WatchBuff,

Please just relax and wait for the dealers response.
I remember you recently having a similar problem selling a watch.
You have to give Silix the benefit of the doubt,
DO YOU THINK HE SENT YOU A NON WORKING WATCH?

That is what you did not want to be accused of.

Re: My 3717 arrived and IM PISSED!

this may sound silly.... but i had a GST Ti with the same problem... I "fixed" it by hitting the stop/start actuator (top one) and then shaking it.... seems when the power reserve is very, very low, the watch will appear not to work...

May not be what is wrong here... but you never know... worked for me...

I would also say to put it on a watch winder if you can, let it build up more power reserve... last resort is to take it and smack it against your palm in a blunt way.... sometimes the hairspring becomes bound in transit.... i had a 6497 do this last week... opened the box, wound it all the way and nothing... bitch-slapped it once and it works like a charm now...

Re: My 3717 arrived and IM PISSED!

You have a point but I did contact that seller and got the watch back yesterday and shipped it back to him since the second hand was rubbing against the minute hand.quick fix but at least i sent a running watch.

I thought he checked his wares before shipping. Im gonna say it...dropshipper.

I dont think it ever touched his hands or he ever saw it......
Sorry for my tirade but it's frustrating after 6 months back and forth.

Re: My 3717 arrived and IM PISSED!

I think its just dry brother. My watch smith lives one block from my house. I would check with Sillix first. With Silix's blessing I would take it to the watch guy and have him to lub it up.

Re: My 3717 arrived and IM PISSED!

Ordering from any dealer is a bit of a crapshoot, which is why the after-sales service is the most important part (for me). That's why I now have only 2 dealers that I will order from anymore - Josh and Angus.

Re: My 3717 arrived and IM PISSED!

i would also suggest to wind it up at least 50%....then, i would open the caseback.....and check the Hour wheel ( balance wheel) ....
believe it or not, i once pushed the BW CAREFULLY....! with a tooth pick....and it started running.

also...its a new movement....it needs to have a certain amount of spring pressure...to start running....hopefully that will help....

if not....what a nightmare !

Re: My 3717 arrived and IM PISSED!

Thanks again sub.....constructive posts are what im looking for here.

HU
I opened the back and I tried to get the blanace wheel to move with a oun, swung once and nothing. I'll try to wind it again . i did about 30 times or so.....just so frustrated i do not even want to look at it.
Its prbably something small.
When I get some time later and Im feeling better I'll look in tha back adn give it a go. Nothing I cannot fix one way or the other.

==============

get a loupe and check the movement....a lose screw blocking any free movement of any part ? a fallen off - glued on sticker letter blocking ?

also....is the spring detangled ?

check carefully....propably its really nothing major !

Re: My 3717 arrived and IM PISSED!

The last time this happened to me, it was pure torture. I get watch and it doesn't work. I stop playing with it in the car and take it inside my house and get it to work. Sweet, right. Two hours later it stops again. So I bust out the inner watch-smith in me and get it to work again (aka, shake it a couple times) and it works for 12 hours. Awesome! Where it to work and of course, I'm the man. 6 o'clock rolls around, and it stopped indefinitely. It was terrible. It still pisses me off thinking about it. Oh well.

Re: My 3717 arrived and IM PISSED!

Sorry for your troubles watchbuff. I know what you mean about being all excited about a new piece and then... not. When I first got my BCE from Ruby it worked fine, but I started to feel sick when I thought the jump at the 58 sec. mark was uncommon. Then people here told me they had it too and all was well. To wait 6 months for DOA would be a major let down. Hope it works out for ya. On the other hand, the 3717 is a sweet watch. Hang in there.

My 3717 was DOA as well when I received it from an off-board dealer... I tried all of LOS's ideas... the pimp-slap followed by a b**ch-slap usually do the trick for me... got to show the watch you love it, but that it can't do you like that.

The problem with my 3717 ended up being the placement of the movement/dial in the case... my 3717 had no movement holder at all.. the caseback when screwed down would press onto the inner movement cover and hold the movement and dial in place. My entire movement and dial were shifted about 1/2 mm to the left when you look at the watch from the dial side... just far enough that the crown when fully screwed down was still hacking the movement. The "9" marker was literally touching the side of the rehaut... the 3 probably had 2+mms of play on its side. When I moved the movement /dial into the proper place and re-assembed... it runs like a champ and is one of my all-time favorite watches.

I have since gone back and added a movement holder from a dead 7750 based pam trimmed to fit inside the 3717's case.
