MSA's first PAM.... 000, 112, or 390?

I agree, I would steer clear of the 111 and display back. Although it is my favorite pam. Both Rep and Gen.

000-005 are winners for sure, and would do fine for you.
I have NO Idea what a Z factory piece is. I've only seen one displayed here once. And wasn't impressed at all.

A little tid-bit that might make you feel a little better about your being a "(Rolex/Omega guy)", and trying a Pam. Are you aware that Rolex and Pam are are Brothers from different Mothers? (well actually the same Mothers) LOL!!!

You see, Pam was designed by Panerai, and produced by Rolex for the first Pam's. The case was made from modified Rolex Pocket watch Cases, and use the movements that Rolex used for these watches.

So you can wear one with your Rolex pride, as it is a part of a proud History in Horology. ;-)
:greedy:

The best advice I or anyone else could possibly give, is "READ The Pam Guide in this Forum". The info is invaluable!

Yes, it will take some time, as all things needed for proper decisions do. but it will give you a completely different take on Rep's. There is a LOT more to it than simple copies. Far from it! And a Huge reason we collect.

I have Gen's and Rep's of Pam's and enjoy them equally if this tells you anything about the level they have achieved.
And I am VERY Picky!!!

Thanks Knife, Panerai's history certainly is interesting! (I agree that the 111 looks amazing and likely my favorite, but I don't think I could pull off one unless it was gen)

The only two scenarios you cannot pull off a Noob 111 are:
1) Some is comparing your rep with a gen, side by side, and taking notice of the movement;
2) You handle it to someone that's into reps too.

In scenario #1... why would you hand over your watch for such a detailed inspection? Are you planning to take your rep to GTG? That would be a bad idea no matter the version, because you can always get some small differences of finishing no matter the version of the rep.

In scenario #2... would that person really call you off (and thus also calling himself)?

In summary... yes, a closed back is always a safer choice and the PAM 390 is a good choice in that case (although the dial colour is less versatile), but in practice it is very unlikely to get called off with a PAM 111 (not more than with a Submariner rep, for example).

Thanks! I'll likely buy a gen 111 at some point if I like the brand enough.

Do you want Swiss made, 1:1, gen like?

I do! Tucker what's your suggestion?

Lol, guess Tucker made a joke here. There are no swiss made reps. The latest h and noob maker watches recommended here in this thread are available from all trusted dealers and are, although not technically "1:1" down to every last detail, all very gen like and would be very impressed by your friends if they can make out these not being gen (if not members here!).

@ALE7575 in regards to the PAM390, is there still a "superrep" available of this or should i be looking m2m for a good one?

I'm not ALE, But from what I see, yes!

Most of my rep's have display backs. Grrrrr!
The only closed backs are a 24 GEN, 571 REP, and a 360 Rep.
Even thought he 360 is closed back, NEVER-NEVER try to even think about trying to pass a 360 off as Gen! LOL!!!

Anyone that can call out a Noob v4 PAM 111 is a member on this forum and you won't be able to pass off a closed caseback rep by him/her either.

Agree. All this sausage talk has me thinking [emoji3] In fact I've got a 005 movement and dial and hands sitting around. I need a case - anyone out there got one? Preferably PVD. Hit me up

005 looks lovely and the 388. Is there any 388 with a close back? I love the floating crown with no guards. It shape remind me of a diamond.

No there is no equivalent model with a closed caseback. There are only two Radiomirs using the P.9000 movement and one is the PAM505, which also has an open caseback. :)
