The Asian 21j that's offered at watcheden currently seemed to fixed the marker and spacing issues.

Fantastic review and you addressed some of my concerns over the different reps. This has been one of my grail watches and I have been put off buying a rep version, but think I might have to go for the manual wind lemania rep, as I can't buy an original at present, but your comparisan revue has helped me thank you.
On the subject of gens, Is this the same watch that George Clooney wore in The American? because at 42mm it looked massive on his wrist.

Great post, many thanks!
The Moonwatch is one of the very few watches, that makes me think about buying a gen.

An excellent comparison test, beautifully photographed. If I could just add that the 'true'hand wound Moonwatch didnt have 'professional' on the dial. This was only added after the event. They where standard Speedy's chosen 'off the shelf' or out of the box as we'd say nowadays !!. It was a close run thing between Omega and .........Longines, not Rolex who where elliminated quite quickly from the 'space race' sideshow.
Just my 2 cents worth to a wonderful comparison

I love my Longines Legend Diver and the brand as a whole, but I don't know how you can call it close in light of two detached crystals!

In various stringent tests it was really only one crystal the Longines Wittnauer lost and that warped, the Rolex Daytona actually stopped after the hands warped. Even the Speedy lost its lume and gained several minutes but it was still considered the more robust of the choices. These final three where taken from about 11 different brands chosen off the shelf for testing.

Incidentally, the Speedy wasnt the ONLY watch worn on the Moon. David Scott used his Waltham that he carried as a back-up after his Speedy popped its crystal during the Apollo 15 mission

Hmm. I'd read that the crystal separated on two different chronographs from Longines, but I'll concede the point, since I can't cite any references.

As for Scott's Waltham, it would be nice if Omega would fix the inscription on its clear casebacks. Never going to happen, though!

LOL. Never in a million years. Sadly, its all they will have to ride on once they lose the olympic sponsorship -their London countdown clock failed on day 1. Sad to see really. Not the company they once where. But are any of them ?

this thread is very old, but the read is very informative. Is there anyway you still have those photos somewhere and can host them again? I would love to see those comparison shots....

I too would love to see the photos reattached if possible? This could be a sticky IMO.
