hi all

got my hont 888 122610ln watch a few days ago

i was having a hot bath and placed my watch on the side only to see alot of steam / mist under the glass

now no matter what it still doesnt look as clean no matter how many times i clean it?

what is the best way forward? shall i get it serviced and waterproofed by interaktiv or someone else etc?

my 116610ln vsf never had this issue?

If you got water inside, which the foggy crystal implies, you could put it in a bag of rice and then get it serviced asap. Since you got water inside you have most likely spoiled the lubrication of the movement. Get it serviced and waterproofed.

This happens with gen submariners as well. There is water somewhere in your watch (even only a minuscule amount). You need to get your watch serviced & seal the crown/caseback.

think the issue is the crown no matter how hard i try to screw it back there seems there still some space so its not fully closing

Have you checked the caseback yet? Like I told you, VSF caseback is not screwed down right from the factory, I've had about 9 VSF now and they all LOOSE, finger tight at best.

Yes i have now turned it fully and it doesnt open at all

but after putting the watch on the radiator the glass clears

when i put it near my window where its cold the glass again goes like hazy not foggy but like i need to clean it but its inside not outside

what a nightmare after paying 888

i cant even say something to hont as hell say not his fault

It will go through that cycle of misting and clearing near a radiator (warm) or a window (cool) because you have moisture inside it. Take the back off if you can (stickytape wound round your first two fingers if you dont have a tool) and leave it by the radiator to dry out properly.

when it initially came the caseback was loose but i do remember tightening it so im thinking it may happen again as i never went to the back with the caseback not tightened

I just don’t understand why these casebacks are being shipped loose. It sounds like all of them are. Aren’t TD’s aware of this? Takes a couple of seconds to tighten. Seems like there will be many reports of moisture in VSFs of that’s the case… I don’t swim with reps but I wash them under the tap and water can seep in a loose case back just like an unscrewed crown.

does this only apply to VSF or most of the reps’ casebacks are loose from the factory?
