So prior to Christmas my wife and I were out shopping and she started looking at watches, (much to my surprise). Now my wife is always looking for things that are ORIGINAL or DIFFERENT and has no interest in name brands, Bling, Diamonds, Dive Watches, mechanics or traditional styles...Anyway we were looking at watches and she sees a rectangular watch she kinda likes so we asked the girl if we could see it. The Girl gets it out of the case and asks in her ultra snotty voice "have you ever had a Michelle watch before?" I was thinking OH here comes the BULLSHIT!

My wife is checking it out and I ask the girl what kind of movement it has and she was looking like WTF is a movement , So I ask is it quartz and her reply "yes" she then tells us you can change bracelets! I'm thinking "OMG you can change the Bracelet, That is surely a Miracle!!!" So then I ask how much and she says with that Bracelet $800.00.. My wife instantly hands it back to her and says we will keep looking. Now mind you if my wife ever said to me I must have this I would get it for her no questions asked. My wife sees my watch collection but feels no need to compete or even question my sanity. Anyway in another store we found a Skagen she liked and that was easy as she has another Skagen that she wears almost all the time.

Latter that week I found out my cousin has a Michelle watch and the bracelet is apparently real easy to change but other than that .. I dont know??

So my Question to you is WTF is the big deal with Michelle watch.. I tried to check them out online but I didnt get far as it just seems like a bunch of BS.. I will do more research but maybe someone here as an Idea?

Can't help on that I have heard of Omega and that is about it. There is a brand called Roll something and I think there is another brand called Pandaeye. I believe you just walked into a sales assistant trying to make a "run of the mill brand" sound exclusive. It sounds like you are married to my wife BTW lol.

Ah thank you :) and lovely examples they are too. Gens I presume. The Omega certainly looks like the real deal.

They have it all: timeless design, they look great after 3 Years of wearing, You can buy additional bands and bracelets (specially when You save 20%) on the 2K listing price, they don´t need to be re-sealed when the battery is changed..... hey they are even "beautiful timepieces", considered good to be passed down to the kids.

It´s a cheapo chinese swiss quartz imitation movement inside, I´ll never understand how they sell at prices You get a TAG or Breitling or used Tudor/Datejust (if You figure in the additional bracelet prices) and they are getting away with the hype and wanted, year after year after year.....

Never had heard about them and it´s the 3rd time in 2 days in a row I stumble over them now.....

It's a cheep quartz movement but my girlfriend likes then and the band is very easy for her to change so it's cool and fun. I bought her a few from Stan for next to nothing and with the same type of battery movement there great (true super reps) for the ladies

I found a great deal on one of these last year and my wife hated it. It's supposed to have a swiss quartz movement which sould like fancy talk for an over priced ticker. I ended up selling it on ebay.... Not impressed at all.

There's just some companies out there (especially with clothing) who would spend 20% of their budget on the product and 80% on marketing, and chuck a whack on the price tag.. i think Tag Heuer are in that category tbh...

Actually, i would love to know what percentage from a Rolex sale would be toward Rolex's enormous marketing and advertising bill..

Its the same for me in my own business, I was selling lots of cheap electronics on ebay, dozens a week, a lot of work, now i only sell 6-10 units per week at a much higher value and its a whole lot less work!

Well, the name is stupid and you can find them sometimes at Costco, not that that means anything really, but hat they are not exclusive.
And, yes, they look 'ordinary'.
I once had a customer who had a box on their dresser, I went 'oh, what do we have here?', saw the name and did a 180. And they had $$ to burn.

Oh, and that Pam dial looks like it's a piece of paper:unsure:.

I remember a few years ago buying my wife a Swarovski watch which was full of bling for £450 ($700 +).
The bracelet looked nice but the watch itself was cheap crap, I remember thinking it was very very overpriced.

As others have noticed it's all in the marketing.
