Work has brought me to Bangkok, and whilst here, I figured I would head to MBK to see if Maria’s Best Watches (MBWs) are still available in some shape or form. In this post I refer to the watches which came from MBK as MBWs for consistency even though many different sellers sold these reps at some point in time.
For those who are new to MBWs, the following RWI post does an excellent job explaining MBWs:

I was curious if I could find 1680/1665 cases with the correct dimensions without going the viet route. I could not find current information about MBWs especially post Covid. I began my search on the ground floor because this is where other members recommended finding MBWs.
An old time member by the name of Guru bought MBWs on the ground floor across from the KFC back in 2007.
As you can see, there are no more replica watch shops across from the KFC only tourist trinkets.
In fact, on the entire ground floor, which supposedly has the best quality reps in MBK, there are no watches. Quite the shame, and I imagine, incredibly different from precovid MBK.
My search was not finished here, though. I went to the second floor which has about a dozen replica watch shops.
Here is one picture, but generally, everything on display was a truly terrible rep likely acquired from DH Gate at scale. This photo is quite far out, but the general feeling is similar to the grand bazar in Istanbul.
Beyond this shop lied the rest of the rep shops with abominations on display. My goal here was to find someone working at one of these shops and ask about a shop named ‘Nah-Piek’. This shop was the origin for MBWs.
I finally came across one rep stall with an older looking Thai fellow running the show. I asked him if he knew of Nah-Piek and if it is still around. He went on to explain that the Nah-Piek shop was last around 15 years ago, and that the owner and inventor of MBWs had died. He had worked at Nah-Piek for a long period of time before opening his own stall after the owner of Nah-Pieks death. Now, in MBK, only current gen models from noob/ZF/PPF/etc can be found. And found at ludicrous prices I might add after sifting through the DH Gate ‘reps’.
Anyhow, I went on this wild goose chase for a 1680/1665 case. Our only good options now are viet cases or a MBW someone is willing to sell in M2M.
I hope this helps those on the hunt for 1680/1655 cases and serves as a conclusion to my curiosity for finding MBWs in Bangkok
