MBW/MBK is no more

Work has brought me to Bangkok, and whilst here, I figured I would head to MBK to see if Maria’s Best Watches (MBWs) are still available in some shape or form. In this post I refer to the watches which came from MBK as MBWs for consistency even though many different sellers sold these reps at some point in time.

For those who are new to MBWs, the following RWI post does an excellent job explaining MBWs:

https://forum.replica-watch.info/threads/what-is-an-mbw-history-of-a-marque.21090/

I was curious if I could find 1680/1665 cases with the correct dimensions without going the viet route. I could not find current information about MBWs especially post Covid. I began my search on the ground floor because this is where other members recommended finding MBWs.

An old time member by the name of Guru bought MBWs on the ground floor across from the KFC back in 2007.

As you can see, there are no more replica watch shops across from the KFC only tourist trinkets.

In fact, on the entire ground floor, which supposedly has the best quality reps in MBK, there are no watches. Quite the shame, and I imagine, incredibly different from precovid MBK.

My search was not finished here, though. I went to the second floor which has about a dozen replica watch shops.

Here is one picture, but generally, everything on display was a truly terrible rep likely acquired from DH Gate at scale. This photo is quite far out, but the general feeling is similar to the grand bazar in Istanbul.

Beyond this shop lied the rest of the rep shops with abominations on display. My goal here was to find someone working at one of these shops and ask about a shop named ‘Nah-Piek’. This shop was the origin for MBWs.

I finally came across one rep stall with an older looking Thai fellow running the show. I asked him if he knew of Nah-Piek and if it is still around. He went on to explain that the Nah-Piek shop was last around 15 years ago, and that the owner and inventor of MBWs had died. He had worked at Nah-Piek for a long period of time before opening his own stall after the owner of Nah-Pieks death. Now, in MBK, only current gen models from noob/ZF/PPF/etc can be found. And found at ludicrous prices I might add after sifting through the DH Gate ‘reps’.

Anyhow, I went on this wild goose chase for a 1680/1665 case. Our only good options now are viet cases or a MBW someone is willing to sell in M2M.

I hope this helps those on the hunt for 1680/1655 cases and serves as a conclusion to my curiosity for finding MBWs in Bangkok 😅

Thanks for the interesting insight into the location of a real key piece of rep history/legend. Gone but not forgotten!

Having seen proxyserv's post... seems someone else was gone, but not forgotten. And now is back. Well well...

Thank you for this informative post! I am always happy when someone reports something about the MBK.

MBK was the place where all the madness started for me, just about 12 years ago. After my first experience in MBK, I ended up here at RWI. The rest is history 😁

As far as I know, MBW cases have not existed in MBK for a very long time.

Before COVID time, rep dealers as in general were made very difficult in the MBK (police raids) and they disappeared to a large extent. Within the last 2 years, however, the rep dealers have come back and to my surprise there are many sellers of high end reps of the known factories next to all the AAA+ junk. As a rule, these are a little more expensive than via TD, but you can look at the watch directly and take it with you.

All in all, I love the MBK! Shopping is fun there, and not just for watches.

I'll finally be back at the end of March and definitely won't miss the one or other opportunity to shop at MBK! By the way, the food court and coffee places are also amazing!

If you chat with the rep dealers long enough, they will show you some better quality reps, but they are much more expensive in person than purchasing from a TD. They also didn’t have any cartel/vintage reps which is what I am most interested in.

I went to the all you can eat ‘Shinkansen’ sushi buffet place. Wow! It was 500 baht for all you can eat nigiri/rolls/wagyu. Was well worth the trip

Well, you certainly did your research fast to find out who you were falsely accused of being @JeanClaudeKilly

Also, why do you always pick the names of random sort-of-famous people?

This is a kangaroo court and quite ridiculous. What evidence do you have to suspect that I am Lewis Collins who is a scammer on this forum? I don’t have any sales, do not plan on selling any of my builds, and have only contributed positively to this forum especially with this post.
The evidence is post 6 in this thread, end of.

Now p!ss off back to whatever hole you crawled out of this time. I wish nothing but the worst on scum like you.

My guess? An ever present need for recognition and attention..... He himself is sort-of-famous now, only for being a massive wanker.

Lewis, wind ya neck in fella

It took a 10 second Google and is also at the top of M2M. This is rude behavior to treat new members this way.

I chose this name because I back country ski, and JCK was a famous collector with the likes of Paul Newman/McQueen etc. Happy proving I am not Lewis Collins.

Could be all sorted by sending a quick photo of yourself and your passport, with todays date/time, to any member of staff via PM?

I assure you I will be the first to apologise if proven incorrect.
