14000baht or 400usd for a Black Themes?

Which currency conversion gives you that? 2years back?

Anyway if peeps can figure out to think that MBWs are gonna be dirt cheap, pls fall out.

Do you even know there are dealers selling JUST the hornback straps from MBW at 350USD?

I know the price is not finalised but be realistic here. So the hornback is 350 i figure the watch should be worth only 100 to fall with the 500 range.

Cheers!

they are selling only the strap for 350.00?

I love the hornback strap. However, i doubt you can take a real estimate of the value at MBK just because other folks (i assume from how you wrote it) are selling them for 350

Rubber Omega straps are a few hundred bucks - and people sell rubber straps for a few hundred bucks, doesn't mean thats what the rep is selling for.

Unless the hornback leather is more rare than i imagine, it would seem to me that i could get HKTan to produce me something like that for less than 350

anyway, i do appreciate you looking into this, my guestimate would be in the 450 range - but, who knows with rep inflation,

the prices are becoming obscene - especially for a rep that doesn't function as the dial is laid out, with a run of the mill asian 7750 in it and i assume no AR.

i can handle bad quality control and defects at 2 and 300, but man, where is our hobby going when we hit 4,5 and 6 - and the same likleyhood of defects. :)

I was quoted $340 for a gen. Mont Blanc croc strap today and I know the gen. Breitling crocs are around that range too. $350 for a rep (even if top quality) strap is pretty ridiculous. As stated, HKtan or someone else could build an AP hornback strap for half that cost. Can you post a general range of prices that people could expect? 400-500 is different than 600-700.

@hk: Yes. The dealer is selling at that price. Not MBK.

@the rest:

This is an MBW GB gauging interest thread.

Noobs i can understand. This MBW APs are around for someime now.
The regulars be it mainly from other forums or so you know the MBW APs very well by now.

Whether they are worth that much obviously depends on individual mindset and the market asking as well as market demand.

If a watch has so much flaws in your eyes, bow out. Everyone know the flaws in the APs. But yet if members know the watch well enough they know how much it is worth in their eyes.

Attention to certain flippers whom i know very well who you are, i'm not dumb here to hold a GB for you to want a few pieces and to flip it. If thats your thinking you gotta be kidding.
If you wanna tell me u can get it well at a much better price, then fly to BKK.

I also forgot to ask my main question - would the version with black bezel be available with matching hornback strap?

i didn't mean to poo poo the thread, i will probably end up getting this watch at some point no mattter what the price ends up at, i was just commenting generally.

But, since i've never had a AP the fit and finish looks better to me in photos between the mbw and the best "mass produced" ap's from perfect clones ect. Is it really the case?

Hey How do we move this along? The guy has gone out of his way to present a selection of watches that normally sell for $750 or so. That's the going price for MBW APs I've seen here and at RepGeek, RWG1&2 etc.

MBWs have attained near mythic status (deserved or not). They look great. The MBW rollies are legendary and it seems like everyone who ever sold an MBW/ROO regrets it.

Maybe there is a $3000 MBW with correct ticking seconds at 12 - maybe not. I haven't seen one so, in my world it doesn't exist.

If someone had MBWs on a group buy last year for four hundred and- I would hope that I had bought 2 because now, MBW's reputation is even more widespread, the dollar has fallen at least 30 cents to the Euro, and shipping costs have increased too.

I believe the title of the thread is MBW AP Group Buy. Gauging Interest ONLY not MBW AP Group Buy. Name your price!

It looks like there's interest. I would happily pay $750 for one of the Safaris with the hornback strap. Hell! A hornback strap alone is well over $300 at APbands.com and HK wants $209 for his plain alligator straps. It is what it is. It looks like Pamfried is trying to establish his dealer bona fides with what could be a really nice offer.

So let's step up to the plate and make our commitments. AND Pamfried - name a price! I want that Safari and a Volcano too. Since I'm already in the market for a couple more APs, I know that I am going to spend some money. I figure I'm buying a $750 watch. If it ends up being $690, I just saved $60.00.

Two things are certain:
1 Whether I save $20 or $100 on the watch, each day wearing it will beat the nagging regret that I missed out on a decent deal.
2 Shortly after the watch arrives, someone will introduce another AP that is just a little closer to gen.
It's only money :)
(If I'm out of line with this post - I'm a noob - what do I know anyway?)

a couple of things first i'm not active here, but i am very active on the other boards and have been around for about 3 yrs now.
1. HKTan is building me a custom gator strap for 130 which is his going price, used to be under 100 before the dollar fell. 2. MBWs have never gone for 750 - maybe invested with mods (which is sore subject that i won't get into here) on the vintage models, but they normally run 350-450. 350-400 for the vintages, i know the APs are a little more. i myself got a mbw seadweller last year in TTK's group buy for 350 shipped.

I believe that pamfried said he paid 600 if i remember correctly for his safari so it should be less than that. -

however, it does look like there is sufficient interest for the buy.

If pamfried got his safari at 600 then that is probably the Thailand price...we can expect the dealer mark-ups to be around 700-750 then. MBW APs probably go for 440-450 at the source (TTK once explained that he was not making that much from the MBW watch sales) and so ordering thru a dealer generally costs 530-550 at least + possible shipping fees. So, I expect the group buy to be around 450-500 for the normal APs (not the hornback versions).

For those waiting for the secs at 12, it still won't look like a gen which has asymmetrical chrono pushers and crown, a 12 subdial slightly below the normal 6, 9, 12 positions of the 7750, and a really deep date housing covered by the dial cyclops (the mbw version falls short on this aspect as well).

Thanks for the insight into prices - I've only been around for a few months.

My buys are motivated more by value than by actual expenditure. That said,I'm every bit as happy with the $268 AP jumbo that I bought from Josh as with the $750 Santos I got from another source. Since I'm looking for a couple more interesting APs, Pamfried's offering is attractive.

If I save a few dollars - great!. Trustytime and Josh both have APs that are approaching $900 and Josh has some nice ones for less than $300. I just got my 2nd T3 - this one from Angus- my first has an Asian movement, smaller cyclops and the band isn't quite as nice as the one from Angus. The bottom line is that I can live with the spelling mistakes (HOS and 'Editiow') the running secs at 9 and the bezel that occludes the tachymeter because, I like the watch. It fits a certain mood and all my peers will notice is that I wear a large watch.

It was my impression that AP ROOs by MBW were in the $700 range.

What I really appreciate about RWI/TRC/RG/RWG is freedom of information and the willingness to guide the inexperienced through the minefield.

Thanks again for your insight.

Some of you guys are dreaming....

Take the one with bracelet for example (Not sure about the hornback croc stuff)...If the shop price is $450...With the GB, say you can get it for $400...Add on paypal, EMS shipping & packaging, it will go back up to $450...With some compensation for PF doing all the work and taking all the risks, guaranteed delivery (maybe)..? You should be happy if you can get it for $550...My guess is the price for the bracelet model will be between $550 to $600...

it would be quite easy to end the speculation by pamfried just posting what he paid and getting us a group buy price. But, for the record, HKtan can make one of those straps for 270.

wonder how much it is without the strap for the watch.

I would want to be within $550-$700 USD delivered for a Safari with Brown Hornback.
If it goes over that I will bow out early. Don't want to waste anyone's time or have them count me if my calculations are not realistic. The American Dollar in the dumbs doesn't help some of us and is likely to push the prices higher than what I want to spend right now.

Cheers,
M

Just to give everybody an idea of how much a MBW AP ROO Black Themes Bracelet is worth used, i purchased mine for $500usd........and thats a steal. When i was in the market for an AP ROO, they were retailing for 600-650 new before shipping from our older "MBW " dealers.

just my 2 cents since i have dealt with pricing in the past......
