I'm so glad this thread got resurrected. I wasn't here soon enough to see this the first time around.
I think I understand the OP's mindset. I've had one museum-quality collection in my life. Took a lot of time and money to pull it together. Was great fun doing that, and there were some really rare pieces in it. And after it was complete, I looked at it, and found it unfulfilling. It was truly the pursuit, and not the ownership, that I found appealing. Once the pursuit was completed, I was done. Sold it off and never regretted it.
The only thing I find sad here is that this deserves Panerai's attention, but being reps....they would probably not only not find this impressive, but they would find it offensive.
