guys , this is what i do and i have been doing to my watches
oil (not cooking oil)
oil drop once in a while , and then wind ur watches up and down, i feel the difference of course , some watches fame from my dealer very like rusty looking , i mean i used to wind them and i could hear this not healthy winding sound , after doing the oil thing , they are much better , some of them like butter .

i also think the part of the oil travels to the internal movement and lubricates all the movement ???
it can be , im not an expert but makes sence

watch.jpg

this is just a tip , an advice that imo , i think it helps to make ur watch live longer and healthier
dont blame me if u do it and ur watch stops running
mine didnt

The threads you are oiling serve no function in the watch. They are used to thread the crown on. By putting oil on them and then winding the stem you are indeed putting oil into the movement.......which isn't the best idea. Just because it doesn't wind "smooth" is doesn't mean it needs oil.

This is not an advisable action, but all the power to you if it works for ya.

The only way to properly get a watch to wind smoothly is the disassemble the movement and oil the main spring sparingly. The oil you add is getting nowhere near there.

Hope this helps Pec.

:lol1: if my english is not good , at least my diagram can be more clear :)))

anyways frigpig u maybe right , since i dont know much about it , it is just something that i thought was logic , i have seen how motors work , i thought that the movement of the watch could be the same and i could make the oil run throught the whole movement , starting from the crown , i have been doing these for more than 1 year and i dont do it every week , i did it maybe 2 times in that 1 year , and the watches are running perfect , imo better noise than before but like i said, im not an expert and i do know that movements are weak so it might be dangerous

I suppose the oil could creep into the stem and winding pinion, keyless area and make the wind seem a bit smoother. Pec what type of oil are you using?

I think that's mineral oil they give you with the beard trimmers, though I'm not certain.
