Hello RWI fellas

Right after i get my 1st PAM112M Noob
i feel scared to wind it since i heard some called overwinding that may break all the movement.
and after a while, i look up for things and i got confuse about how many must i wind my pam
so, i decide to make my own research and development.:hehehe:
rather than reading winding tips with no exact number.
which didnt answer the question.

Here we go,
i got Asian 6497 21600bph Movement

how i calculate it

Z
attachment.php

THUMB ON TOP, INDEX FINGER ON BOTTOM
BY SIMPLY SLIDING MY THUMB FROM A TO B
"I" CALLED IT 1 ROTATION.

WITH SOME DATA TABLE,
FROM TIME I WIND TILL IT STOP WITH HOW MANY ROTATION
HERES THE RESULT

ROTATION = OUTCOME
35 ROTATION = 18hrs 20minutes
45 ROTATION = 21hrs 27minutes
60 ROTATION = IM DOING IT NOW

IM GOOD IN MATH AND PHYSICS
SO, I TRY TO CALCULATE TILL DETAIL BUT IN THE END THE
COMPARISON LAW DOESN'T APPLIED.
SINCE THE OUTCOME RESULT IS DIFFERENT FROM ACTUAL ATTEMPT.
maybe because theres a different in amplitude and beat error.
*MY WATCH HAS 000s/d IN QC PICS, DONT KNOW ITS CORRECT OR NOT

GONNA KEEP UPDATING,
HOPE THIS HELPs NEWBIE LIKE ME

SCIENCE WILL GIVE US ANSWERS...

You would have to nearly skin your fingers to break a manual winder. Just wind until you feel significant resistance then stop. No need to tear the crown off, but winding will be very firm when watch is nearly fully wound.

Gosh, mate, you wrote almost a book about winding!
:D
There's no science needed, just wind it, til you'll feel resistance, that's it.

LOL.
i still scared

actually im a bodybuilder.
so im afraid my power is different compare to normal guy.
i dont feel too much resistance on my 60 rotation.

i dont want enjoy winding till i forget to stop because the reesistance is not strong
LOL

Excellent write up!

As said by others, you'd really have to try to damage the movement by winding, especially with the Crown Guard stopping you getting a good grip on the crown!

I've got a 112 and usually do "A to B" about 40 times a day and have never had it stop, however, I've not tried a "super-endurance" test to see how long I could get it to run... Lots of people talk about a 40 hour power reserve, it'b be interesting to find out how long it has to be wound for to achieve that.

thanks for this. i was curious as well.

but like the others here have mentioned -- i just wind until i feel the tension increase and i stop.. i do it periodically -- usually once a day. sometimes i just want to interact with it more and i purposefully do very short wind ups so i can wind it a few times a day. i dont not mind this at all -- i find it relaxing and quite the conversation tactic when at get together or out for drinks.

I have to admit that firstly I thought that this thread was a useless thing

But after having read a lot of post asking members for how many turns you need to get winded the PAM 6497. I think this is an useful info.

Maybe a little elaborated and thorough by the OP, but it really is better than many silly questions about this matter.

In definitive a useful info to reply all silly posts about this matter.

Thanks for take your time and share it

Latest update !

NEW UPDATE !

ROTATION
= OUTCOME
35 ROTATION = 18hrs 20minutes
45 ROTATION = 21hrs 27minutes
60 ROTATION = 24hrs 21minutes
75 ROTATION = 1DAY 3hours

IMO i can stop at 75-80 ROTATION.
at very least, i have time to wind my watch before off to work in the morning.
:)

Humm that's odd. I have a 111M noob. I can't wind it more than 50 and that lasts over 50 hours! I've not tested until it stops as its just not been convenient

When I say 50 rotations I mean a complete 360 of the crown not just A to B

Thanks fellas, at very least what i do really helps people.

Yeah in my thread A-B is 180º rotation
If u mention it in 360º full rotation,
can just simply double up my outcome result
:)

Hi I recently got an 026K from Puretime, it being my first Pam, and my first Manual that's not an automatic. I have been having problems with it though since I got it, and it being a rep I am not too crestfallen about it, but hoping maybe you guys can diagnose the problem.

So I open the crown guard, wind it from A->B like the picture says, for 50 rotations, pop the crown to set the time, then close the crown guard. The second hand does not always start moving, it is very spontaneous, sometimes I slightly shake the watch to get it going. And if the second hand does start ticking the power reserve is extremely low, last for an hour or two, when the OP has a power reserve in the double digits from 50 rotations. Is this common or do I have a defective movement/something happened while shipping?

I think it's dead, I just wound it for 5 minutes, close the crown guard and nothing. Wont tick unless I shake it, but then it only ticks for 30 seconds and stops. :(

This might sound stupid, but on an 026k where the crown is on the left at the 9, do I wind it from B -> A?

Are you winding it the right way?? You will feel/hear a slight clicking noise and the it will spring back a little. The more its wound the less it springs back in your fingers till it won't turn anymore.

OP, Looking at your numbers, I think it would be best to stop at 45 rotations...after that, the number of rotations increases significantly while the PR only goes up an hour or two. To me that suggests the spring is at optimal tension around 45 rotations, and going further may increase wear on it and actually shorten PR later in life.
