BTW, just so the forum called Replica Watch Info, doesn't mean we are a bunch of bumpkins who never see any gens in real. Quite a few of us have gens too. You are not unique.

What's funny is the guys who claim to instantly spot reps yet I'm also holding my genuine pieces. This thread is full of shit. If I wore both and asked which is real you'd have to guess by glance. I own genuine and reps. I travel every 2 weeks and take all the reps because I can put them in my suitcase and if someone steals them it's no biggie. But when I wear them I want them to look real. And I assure you they look 100% real . No one is taking it off my wrist.

You asked which watch is gen without magnification and I’ve correctly replied you: the grey 15510 is gen. And the tells have nothing to do with the case or bracelet whatsoever. No magnification needed as well. In fact I had to reduce the picture sizes to make the tells less painfully blatant but the tells still screamed to me.

If it makes you feel sore that your watches are still instantly identifiable as reps after all the hard work, that can’t be helped because the tells are all over the watch. Also whether you own gens or not is irrelevant in this discussion. The key point here is that no matter how you polish and rebrush any of your rep APs, I can still identify them as reps if that’s the only thing you’ve done on them. The only person you have to convince is yourself, and you can do that without a thread or forum. All you need is a mirror and perhaps Joe Cocker’s “You are so beautiful” playing in the background as you rotate the polished reps slowly on your wrist and tell yourself they look so gen now. That’s all that matters actually. But you’re posting in a community which happens to have some members who know what gen and rep APs are like as opposed to relying on their imagination.

If you’re looking for compliments and worship then maybe you will be shocked to know that the work you’ve done, have been done long ago, and on a more refined level and with better results, by talented folks like @Johnny Depp and other modders here, mostly quietly. They know better than to claim that the refinish work turns rep watches into gen looking ones. Now if you ask me, that claim in the thread title is utter BS. If you cannot take opinions which differ from yours, keep your work to yourself please. And if you post them, then allow for guys to have their say. Not everyone will be impressed by what you do or agree with your views but that really doesn’t matter as you’re the only one you need to please.
The fact remains that if you show me a well finished replica AP and I will tell you that it’s a replica if it’s the only work done. No magnifier needed. Believe me, what you did wasn’t groundbreaking and wouldn’t cause anyone to fall on wobbly knees to worship you and if you’re offended by that, it’s best you stick to the mirror and Joe Cocker, they don’t talk back.

Be forewarned: feel free to share your opinion but keep it above the belt. You’ve already broken one of the cardinal rules here by wearing your reps to the AD and posting about it. So if you want to display more attitude and stamp your feet just because someone disagrees with you, then you belong to a playpen in isolation and not this community.

And owning gens isn’t such a big deal trust me. A lot of us own them. Would you like to see some? And likely they own much higher value ones than yours but that’s also irrelevant. Just polish your watch anyway you like and enjoy them. If you think they look gen then good for you. I didn't follow the whole thread but I agree with you on what you wrote. Let's start from the assumption that the gen is gen, the quality of the steel is different, we can't expect from a reply of 500/600€ that it is equal to a gen. Yes, polishing, brushing, bevel improve the appearance, give more shine this is true. But as @QueTip said, wearing the watch all day for every day they all become the same, the shine disappears and it is imperceptible to notice the differences between Rep, gen and mod.

But above all, if you share work, there are not only praise, you also have to accept criticism, otherwise it is better not to share them.

Non ho seguito tutto il thread ma sono d’accordo con te su quello che hai scritto. Partiamo dal presupposto che il gen è gen, la qualità dell’acciaio è diversa, non possiamo pretendere da una replica di 500/600€ che sia uguale ad un gen. Si, lucidature, spazzolatura , bevel migliorano l’aspetto, danno più lucentezza questo è vero. Ma come ha detto @QueTip, indossando il watch tutto il giorno per tutti i giorni diventano tutti uguali, la lucentezza sparisce ed è impercettibile notare le differenze tra Rep, gen e mod.
Ma soprattutto, se uno condivide dei lavori, non ci sono solo elogi, bisogna accettare anche le critiche, altrimenti meglio non condiderle.
